Yeah, the "Ford owns Cummins" rumor has been drifting around for years.

Hopefully the dispute will get settled quickly, as both compaines have a lot to loose. Big pickups might not be a huge share of Ford's productivity, but they are also one of their more profitable vehicles.

But that said the 6.0 is not really the problem either its all the crap they had to strap onto it to meet the new regulations.
I don't know what problems you see with emissions; but that's not the problem in my area. The main problem here was Ford could not keep the heads glued on. Ford was replacing the TTY headbolts like popcorn. And to do this the cab had to be pulled or the engine. My friend makes lots of $$$$ doing this.

I like everybody else hopes they get back to producing trucks soon. I think like 4% of the GNP is from cars and trucks the big 3 make.

The ones that went out for my employer were pretty early, before people were talking about a problem. The shop mechanic had Ford deal with them since they were under warranty, and apparently one of their techs thought the engines got dusted, but I'm not sure how he reached that conclusion or if it was just a guess...

Yeah, and I do hope the 6.4 proves to be reliable. Competition is good for everyone, and Ford has some good things going. Their F450 pickup looks pretty neat, with factory pyro, tranny temp gauge, and fluid pressure based brake controller...

squeege, from what I can tell the 2005 - 2007 6.0s seem to be pretty decent trucks. I am sure there are a few lemons out there, but by percentage of trucks sold, I doubt there are anymore than any other brand.
