Default My new(used) Tahoe Transport 19 ft

Hi All,

I happen to fall into a 19ft tahoe transport toy hauler my friend was selling, he decided he wanted a 28 ft hauler so I bought his 2003 for $8700, I added Direct TV, 15" flat screen, 3 gallon air compressor and some new blinds looks good as new to me, I'm not the biggest or the best but I'm in the game. I'm so excited my first Toy Hauler, Yea, always had boats in the past. Anyway, here is my situation, I will be pulling with a 2006 Chevy 1500 Crew, 5.3 with tow package. I found a knowledgeable tow company and they set up the tow hitch. They installed 1000 lb drawtite weight distribution system along with a Prodigy brake controller. I am looking for any other suggestions. My dry weight is 4910, add 72 gallon water tank, 2 - 7.5 gallon LPG tanks.

It sounds like you have all the right equipment for the tow but even so you are going to be pushing the limits of the 1500's abilities. I'd keep that water tank empty until you get closer to your destination unless you need the water weight for balance.

What are you going to be loading in your hauler? Your truck should do fine power wise unless you do a lot of towing through the mountains you will be hitting 2nd gear a lot. You might want to look into a set of air bags. I put a set on my last 1500 silverado and they did a great job of firming up the rear end when towing my boat.

I had a 2003 Silverado 1500 with that motor and pulled a 2000 pound trailer with 4 quads on it on a regular basis. Total weight was around 4000 pounds with gear and all. The transmission was shot by 20K miles. I can't imagine the damage you'll do with as heavy a load as you'll be pulling.
