Trailering Ideas...
A buddy and I take our ATV's to Arapahoe National Forest in Colorado every year which is about 8hrs from where we live. We are trying to figure out how we can get both of our atv's and a camper hauled up there. I have a Chevy Avalanche. In the past we have just trailered the atv's and slept in tents. It is frustrating when we both have travel trailers we could haul up there but haven't figured a way to get everything up there without having to attach a hitch on the back of the camper which I have heard is not a very good idea unless you have a 5th wheel which we do not. Any ideas????
ps.. ultimate rack doesn't fit in an Avalanche

Thanks... We have battled this for years and thought someone might have come up with something we haven't thought of...
Ultimate rack doesn't fit in the Avalanche
Don't want to take 2 vehicles 8 hours one way
Should have bought a toy hauler but wives weren't hip with that

Well, my first though is to get a toy hauler but it's hard enough to go against one wife, much less two.
How about you put one ATV in the back of the Avalanche then get one of those hitch mounted platforms that can go on the back of the trailer. You'd need to add a hitch to the trailer, but that can be done. The trailer ATV would mount sideways - you may have to experiment wiht tongue weight so it will tow right. Actually, if you're handy you could make a hinged down platform that goes on the back of the trailer.

I think jaybeecon is onto something here....I've seen those in rv magazines where it has like one wheel in the back and a metal platform you probly wouldn't even know it was there. I think your only other option is to take two trucks. Sucks, but it is only once a year!

Try this website. They have a really cool product to easily haul two atvs on top the pickup bed and still have storage underneath. I don't know for sure if they make it to fit a chevy avalanche, but they make it for the tundra, which has a smaller bed, so I bet they do. They seem to run about $2k complete.
