I have an 04' Kodiak as well and it has about 40 hours give or take a few and if anything I have seen an increase in power but at the same time I am not worried about the top speed as much as having fun climbing things and trying to stay on trails.
I love my Kodiak and would not trade it in for anything well maybe a grizz but that is all. Great machine!!!

I'v got a 2001 kodiak 400 with over 7000 k on it, and it's just as fast now as new. put 175km on it yesterday on a ride with another 400 and a kodiak 450. the 450 can't lose me, he jumps ahead off the line but only stays2 bike lenghts ahead. .great bikes, only problem I have is the skid plates suck. bust it into a dozen pices pieces. also the stutter box has to be disconnected so you can give it in reverse. other than that I love it.

Go to this site. http://www.atvtires.com/index.armordillo.htm Don't get a metal plate. Get an Armadillo plate. You won't be disappointed. THey are indestructable. Metal plates won't slide over obsticles like a Armadillo plate will. It is a plate and bash plate all in one. Easy to install too. Good luck.

Ok, got a question about the armadillo skid plate. The bash plate I bought from Highlifter starts at the front of the quad, goes down, then goes under the quad. It goes back less than 24 inches then stops. The next plate is the 'belly pan' . it is just under the quad. I notice alot of the armadillo plates seem to turn these two plates into one. Does the plate for the kodiak do this? I spent a 100 dollars on the highlifter one and didnt even get the part I wanted. I cant find any manufacturers that make a replacement for my kodiaks 'belly pan'. Thanks,
