Default clutch kit?

I was wondering if anyone has done a clutch kit in there auto belt type trannys? I have a 03 kodiak 450 and wanted to know if it took away from top speed and how it acted off idle? Does it inprove belt life or take away from it? I have 26 inch 589's and a end cap on the exhaust with a uni filter and a rev bypass. I don't really want to take away from top end but would like to inprove the take off. any info would be good! thanks

Default clutch kit?

I just installed a Heel Clicker Clutch Kit on my new Polaris 400 Sportsman. It's awesome! I did some experimentation with the different springs included in the kit including leaving my stock spring on at first. The stock spring gave fantastic engagement right off of idle and was good in high range but really good in low range. A great rock/rough trail combo. I'm riding a lot on the Pismo Dunes since it's 5 minutes from my house and at midrange rpm's in high range, the hook up was TO GOOD...it bogged the engine down when I needed that mid range powerband. I went to yellow and that was good but it ran at a higher rpm than it really needed to. The orange spring was the ticket for the dunes. Engagement at about 2000 rpm and a great low and mid powerband. I get to higher speed faster but it seems to flatten out a little though I haven't had a straight enough stretch to let it fly...to many people on the dunes this busy 3 day weekend! It takes me about 15-20 minutes to make the spring conversion so you can really tailor the performance to your specific ride. I highly recommend this mod!!

Default clutch kit?

thanks for the info....I live in Maine and do most of my ridding in the rocks and mud but want to keep my top end speed because most of my friends ride raptors and sport quads like that. I us to have a raptor but had a bad wreak and dicided that I can't heal from those like I us to! So, I guess if you get a chance to do some top end runs please let me know how you make out with the speeds compaired to the stock springs. As far as the kit you have there are 3 sets of springs that do different things? how many opptions would you be able to choose from? I pulled mine as soon as I got it in a sled pull and I had too much tire on it with the 589's and could'nt get my rev's up to get into my horsepower range so I didn't do very well! if this kit would be easy to change that that would be great I could change them according to the ridding I was going to do!
thanks again!

Default clutch kit?

I just realized something....you're not riding a Polaris! I'm not sure whether Heel Clicker builds a clutch kit for anything other than Polaris. Hopefully someone who knows better can shed some light on whether they do or who builds a good aftermarket set up for your Kodiak.

The best clutch kits out there (esp for the yammys) are the high lifter/epi outlaw kits...ive got one that im gonna be installin in my grizz next weekend, but everyone i talk to LOVES them. Definantly the ticket for crawlers or mudders with big tires...kinda pointless for quads that have stock size tires tho.
