I have been watching this forum for months and have finally decided to put in my two cents worth. After months of research, opinions, and reading, we decided to buy the rancher. I feel it was a good choice. So far we have put it through hell and came back for more.
PROS: engine braking(best in business)
shift on the fly 4wd
easy to throw around ( small enough for wives to ride easily)
no major problems
CONS: engine and exhaust is noisy as hell
solid rear axle sucks in big rocks
could stand a bit more ground clearance
Other than needing to rejet for 8000 ft, the machine has ran flawlessly. Just wish they were lower priced so I could have bought two.

You can not go wrong with the rancher AT. They may not offer the MOST comfortable ride ..but they will not beat you up by any means. The reliability of this wheeler will more then make up for the small difference in comfort it may give up to some of the other wheelers. The next wheeler I buy will be a rancher 400 AT.

I've had my AT for about 8 months. Plowed snow for hours and have had a couple 100 mile trail days on it. This is a great machine. While it may not be the best at anything, it is good at everything. It works when it has to and flip the switch to 2wd and this thing isn't to bad on the sport side. Only problem I've had is getting it to shift when it's 30 below zero out. But after warming up for about 15 minutes it work fine. I guess I don't work to well at that temperature either. You can't go wrong with this machine.

Ok I have both Quads (400AT and Rincon). IMO the 400AT is a great quad. Like said above its not the best at anything but it's great at everything! We beat the snot out of it on a regular basis and it keeps coming back for more. I do wish it had a bit more power but it still gets a thumbs up from me.

You can't go wrong with the Rancher as long as you don't ask it to do more than it was intended to do. It is great for trails and for work around the property pulling a trailer. If I could add anything to it, it would be a little more power. As for reliability I have had no problems with it. If you do get an 04 make sure that the recall notice that was sent out on them was taken care of. I believe it was to replace the ECM. I added a winch ( never had to use YET ) and 26" tires and ITP rims. If you liked your 02 Rancher, I think you will love the AT. I do have some pictures posted if you want to check them out.
