I also agree. But if something does go wrong with it, its not going to be an 80 dollar belt. Ill stick with replacing my belt if i have to, not spending hundreds to fix something more complicated

So before you pass judgement read up. The new Hondas are JUNK compared to the ol' 300 fourtrax in my yard. Which has prob anywhere from 6000-8000 miles and still plows the driveway! (The odometer says 6034, but I had for a half year before the odometer.) And a friends has 10000 miles!! Well actually 9892. But he hasn't had the odometer on for all of its ownership either. My friend rick has a 98 foreman with almost 8000 miles on it. I could name a bunch more. If I'm to be deemed a Honda cultist make it an older model cultist. Because all the newer Hondas have more problems IMO.
I also had a 300 fourtrax, it was a 93 and had god knows how many miles, indestructable little machine, never had any major problems, but had to step up and traded it for my 06 650v2, and got 1500 for the fourtrax!

I agree with this, but belts are not the only thing that can go. Have you ever replaced Yamaha clutch parts? OUCH!!!

Hey Brute23, what's this pen-locker? New term for me....

That's just it though, aside from one or two cases on this forum, how many have gotten screwed up?

Same could be said about the Yamaha belt drive.

oh, now why do the knuckleheads have to start picking on Honda, particularly those that live in glass houses. As far as second-rate performing simplistic CVTs go, its common knowledge Kawasaki has the worst performing belt drive of the bunch. Settling for that I can understand that you wouldn't get it. Oh the horror stories he tells about Hondas (of someone he knew blah blah blah). I can replace my tranny and still make as much off of resale as your Kawi (depreciation really takes a toll on a brand like Kawasaki). And what's with the cultist label, if someone happens to own a Honda they are a cultist? I thought it was an American brand that was a cult? There are some hard-headed Honda owners in this forum, but for the most part I think I see more from another brand. The streak seems to run with 'big bore' owners as well, buy a big quad and think they are an authority. Most of the Honda owners I see are the experienced riders with an open mind.

I don't think Kodiak660s example has anything to do with brand. Any dummy should know it has a whole lot more to do with weight, tires, and technique. Heavy quads suck in the snow, regardless of brand or type of 4wd, but Polaris is not TRUE 4wd unless you are in the Polaris marketing department or a sucker. All that weight and not being locked in 4x4 and you are going to get stuck sooner than others. I know - I have to be careful not having a locker, but we got 21" of snow yesterday and I was able to get around. The snow was up past my floorboards. No locker.

If you can't see where you are going, just point and fire!
your life story? (or is that our V.P.?), clueless
we hear from yet another brainwashed member of the honda cult,, easy killer.. i got a feeling this isn't the end of this, OH MY GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE!!!!!!!!!! wayout, out...................
Man, why you got to be ragging on my Kawi and that I am a BIG BORE quad owner? That's two shots to some one who ain't even in yall's "BATTLE OF THE BEST SNOW GOOSE" arguement.

I would have to agree about Kawi's belt system. I would rather slip my belt or front diff. before I break an axle or something $$$$. Belts are cheap and won't leve me out in the woods. I pull a pretty heavy trailer around alot when I am hunting and my belt and Brute seem to be holding up quite nicely and do more than I ask. I had a Honda Rancher 350 before the Brute and I loved it but the 3wd and lack of power left me very angry ALOT of times and couldn't get teh job done, but it was bullet proof.

PEN- Lock is used so that when you grab the locker on the Kawi Utes it will hold it for you. It works simular to the parking break. You grab the lever and push a button and it holds it for you. http://www.highlifter.com/store/penlock.html

Oh look everyone I made the honda boy upset. It's people like you that erk me. Shall I get a pedistal for you. You know everything about everything, all that I have to do is ask right? Sorry to criticise your rubys "industrie leading" transmission. You don't have to get your panties all in a bunch over someone elses opinion. I don't care when someone insults my wheeler. Its no dirt off my back. I bought what I thought would be best for me. And so did you. As for the point and fire quote, we have a kid up here that crashes everything he has ever owned. Infact his nickname is crash. We found him one night in his crashed subie. When asked what happend, he said,"I couldn't see where I was going so I jus point and fired." So you can take your uconn pretty boy head and shove it back into your a$$ from whence it came.

I think ive had my v2 in high range twice in the 360 miles that are on it. Thats probably why I dont have any problems. I love the fact that i have control of the diff lock. When i see something nasty coming, I dont have to wonder if it will kick in AFTER im already stuck, i can engage it before hand

brute23, neither of those were directed at you, they were posted before you wrote in. Yes, I get tired of a few poster's trash talk and bravado and get "irked" now and then. I started looking at this thread hoping for DGL info, and the next thing you know some genius is bashing an incorrectly spelled and unrelated transmission.

thanks for the link, no wonder I never saw it not owning a Kawasaki. No, I don't know it all and I thought I might have missed a (Penland) manual locker for my Honda from Highlifter. I don't want a spool so DGL looks like my only choice if I do it. I don't care about 2wd because the Honda will never be fast and sporty.

And Toughguy - you've got issues - just point and fire, right?
