i would fill it with oil and crank it with the kill switch off until the oil pressure light goes off. this should prevent anything from happening to the engine while the filter is filling and the engine is getting oil. this will take a few seconds. otherwise, you will have a few more seconds of running without oil while the filter is filling ect...

If this ever happen's to anyone again ,after you put the drain plug back in refill the sump ; then remove the spark plug an add a table spoon of oil in the cylinder and turn the engine over a few revolutions with the spark plug out . Install spark plug and you're good to go , that's the way i do lawn and garden equiptment engine's when servicing them ! ...................williebee
