Default Problems with Kodiak

I am having a real hard time getting my 96 kodiak to shift into reverse. I have to pull forward about 10 feet and then jam it into reverse. Can someone tell me how to fix this? It used to shift into reverse quite easily until i had a dealer give it a spring tune up. I don't feel like going back to him and was hoping i could fix this myself.

I have a 96 as well yguy. You have to have the foot brake pressed all the way down for it to go into reverse.I wired my switch back so you dont have to do that.Good luck

thank you for the feedback. my idle is up a little higher than normal, and i don't remember if i had the foot brake depressed. i think i did but will try it again. THANKS, i am new to ATV's so my knowledge is lacking about the subject. I just wasn't sure if there was some machanical adjustment.

Yes Semi, if you follow the rear foot brake cable you will see that it splits and one of them goes to a switch when pulled allows you to go into reverse ( another useless safety item). I wired mine on so it allows you to go to reverse without having to depress the brake........Cheers!!
