My first bike was a super rat. Man I miss that bike I think I was about eleven when I first got it, it was to tall for me to flat foot it so I started off by standing on our porch to get going. that bike was so fast, now that I think about it what!! were my parents thinking letting me ride that bike. I saved my money for months and did alot of extra odd jobs around the ranch so I could buy it. I think I only paid $150 for it (of course it was used). when I was about thirteen I started having Carb problems with it and my dad took it to a local mechanic to fix it. Of course by then they had stop making parts for it, (early 90's) so it sat at the mechanic for a while waiting to find parts, after awhile some guy came in to the shop. He was a collector of those bikes and offered me like $500 for it. I didnt even think twice I sold it and bought myself a nice suzuki rm125. a few years later my Dad wrecked it out back behind our barn, Taco'ed the front wheel bent the forks, tweaked the frame. they life flighted him to SLC hospital. he ended up with two punctured lungs, broken ribs, torn rotator cuff, busted femur, and a concusion. He is lucky to be alive, he wasnt wearing a helmet. I think back all the time about my super rat, with the knowledge I have now I would like to get another one and restore it for my boys to play around on. Do they still make parts for these bikes or is it like finding dinosaur bones now?

I too owned a Super Rat. I bought it when I was 16 and owned it until I was 45.

A friend of mine, back in 1980, had a Hodaka 100cc "Road Toad". This was a street and trail bike, with lights and signals. It was a unique shade of green. I always thought the name was really entertaining. It ran great, had a ton of power for a 100.
