I keep a 18/49 Homelite Timberman in the trailer for camping. Its light, reliable,,,,and as I remember, pretty cheap. I would reccomend it for what it is.

HappaRap, Bing is on track with that one. Stihl is the way to go, They have one called the Farm Boss or something close to that, it's a little heavier than a standard Stihl but is a little cheaper also. I use a Stihl 021 w/ a 14" bar all season, they are light but are pretty powerful, also have a Stihl 041 w/ a 30" bar for the BIG Christmas trees. I like to limb down trees standing up. McCullough is another good one but I haven't seen one in a while, I don't know if they even make them any more.

Bing, Did you get all the mud out of Rex's paws? I got mauled by Rocky, I had "other" dog smell.

I think Husqvarna is the best way to go. They are a little lighter than say a stihl farm boss but with much more power. I know Lowes carries them. Stihl Farm Boss is exremely heavy. I have one at my cottage in Michigan and let me tell you, you will have arms of steel after you get done cutting what you have to cut. If you are going for small and reliable i would go with Echo. Home Depot carries them. Then there's Homelite. Good price a little less power but a lot less money. Poulan you keep pulling and pulling and pulling.... just kidding. I wouldn't go an over kill on bar size. 18 is the biggest you are going to want to carry with you.

HappaRap,
I will definitely mark the calendar for the next pizza feed, Jan 10th right. Sorry I missed out on the last one. I haven't been feeling all that well. By the way when are we going to go back to Easton or somewhere else besides Tahuya. I'm up for a drive to go ride somewhere else with a bit more speed, and maybe and I mean maybe a bit less giant ponds to ride through. Also are you up to try and ride RMC?

Wednesdays are a good day to go to RMC for practice. Jeff Bocook, one of the local pro racers, goes there on Wednesdays. It's worth going just to watch him.

BTW, the GNCC races are on TV tonight on the Speed channel. I can't remember if they are on at 6:00pm or 7:00pm.

As far as nerf bars go, I have the AC propegs for the raptor and love them. They are a little more $$, but definitely worth it. Bonehead700 has them for his 700 and he really likes them too.

Bing- the suspension is better quality than any i've owned, it just not tuned well from the factory... too stiff, i've tried changing compression & rebound on the front but my obvious problem is preload. it has no sag at all, sag helps it be more complaint over smaller bumps & whoops, (helps it drop the wheels into the holes better so you 'float' over it) then it should drop down more on the big jumps & the valving soaks up more of the hit... it should be set at about 1/3 the travel of a shock with the rider on. it just takes a while focussed on sorting it all out.

I'm thinking about going to Juniper Forest sometime soon... maybe just before or right after we go to the Oregon dunes... It's by the Tri-Cities. Show up early Saturday morning...come home sunday afternoon.

Anybody want to join us?

I've been in the cedar cutting Industry for nearly 30 years. Stihl is the saw we all use. Iv'e had my .038 magnum for 12 years and I only have wood heat. I've Cut tons of wood and cedar with it, no problems with it at all. Spend the money for the Stihl.
