Wingdude, Are you still planning on going to Moses this weekend?
It looks like the "all guys camping trip" didn't go together as planned because woman are going now. So i have to work for 4 hours on SAturday and then i'm driving over by myself. The only thing i'm worried about is Justin's truck's tranny has been acting up and I'm not sure if he is going to make it there and back in one piece. He's not taking the camper so it will be a little lighter load there. He is putting my quad in the back of his truck and pulling a trailer with his cruizer on the back. If he does make it over there and has problems on the way back, which i know he will. His buddy will pull the cruizer and i will pull the jetski's and Justin won't have anything. I will keep an eye out for you guys!! What kind of camping trailer do you guys have?

Bear4570, RealtorRider and I had a great ride today at Capitol Forest. It was pretty dusty. The story of the ride actually starts last night.
I went to borrow my dad's truck to haul my quad today. He runs an auto repair shop in Centralia. Every Thursday he holds a safety meeting for his 2 employees -- at the local tavern. Over time these meeting have grown to include other local mechanics, tire shop workers, and random citizens. Dad is all about safety!!! So we get there about 6:15 and by 8 p.m. I had gone through six pints of Dicks Danger Ale. That darn waitress just kept bringing them. It would have been impolite to turn them away once they hit the table. We ate a lot of peanuts too and some microwaved pork rinds, but no real food. Fortunately, after the 4th beer, I had sense enough to call my wife for a ride. To make a long story short. I woke up about 4 a.m. on the kitchen floor with my feet still in our garage. Needless to say, I was a bit slow in getting going this morning. I was about an hour late, missed breakfast, but made the ride.
The ride itself went very well. We met at Rock Candy, took North Rim #1 to Molly Porter. We were out about 4 1/2 hours. There is logging in that area and some fo the trails are blocked. DNR has done a great job of marking the reroutes on all of the closed trails sections and we had no problems getting back on the trail a little further down. Also, for those who went on the ride last Spring, all of the downed trees have been cleared. There had been a motorcycle poker run last weekend and some of the sections of trails showed significant center ruts as a result. Not so bad we couldn't ride, but hopefully the group that hosted the event will do some trail work on North Rim #1 in the near future.
RealtorRider was the first to get thrown from his quad. He decided to gently ride up the side of a steep slope and drop himself in about the only mud on the whole darn ride!! His whole right side was pretty muddy. I was playing trail boss (thank you HappaRap for the fine training) and RealtorRider was in the rear. So, Bear and I missed the spill -- so no pictures.
Bear was next to tumble. He got a little too cocky on a section of trail and his quad showed him who is boss by knocking him on his a$$. The quad didn't tip, just sent Bear sprawling.
Amazingly, I was the only one to not tumble on this trip -- it's highly unusual for me to no get thrown at least once on a ride. The Good Lord probably took pity on me for riding with a decent sized hangover.
There were two forest fires burning up there today as well, one small and one medium sized. We stopped and talked with one fire crew for a few minutes. Both were under control and I saw 2 more fire engines headed that way when we left this afternoon. They should be taken care of today. It's a good reminder to everyone about the burn bans in effect across the state and to use USFS-approved spark arresters. The fires were not caused by ORV riders, but the woods are very dry and we cannnot be too careful.
Thank you to Bear and RealtorRider for the weekday ride.I'll let each of them fill you in on their tumbles.
