Or muzzle loader or revolver. Why the hell would you need a rifle to kill anything in this state?
Ummm - - - - Pointy sticks, shotguns and the rest are not all that effective in most of Eastern Washington. Lots of deer, including Blacktails, are taken at ranges well in excess of 200 yards.
Just cuz they are don't mean you have to.. If your a good hunter you should be able to get within 60yards of anything but maybe antelope. them sons of biatches is sketchy as can be.

Muzzle loader would be kewl. but really unless yoru an old fart like bear.. there is no excuse for hunting westerd washington with a rifle.
Nearly all of the "Muzzle Loaders" you see used for hunting today are rifles. The modern muzzle loader is a far cry from the originals that were used until the mid 1800's. Matter of fact most of the modern coal burners are capable of longer range and accuracy than the Sharps 50-70 breach loader, Model 1852, I often use as a brush gun.

The one original muzzle loader I still shoot on occasion is a Remington model 1856 with Maynerd tape primer system. 58 Calibre and likes 65 grains of FFFG. Best group ever was 16" at 50 yards. Not really good enough for hunting to my way of thinking.
