Default ATV Day Trips In Utah

I will be heading for Utah this summer and will be taking some day trips. I need to know if any of you have been on the Amasa, Cricket Mountains and Burbank Hills ATV trails. These trails are about 35 to 90 miles west of Delta just off highway 50. If anyone has been there would you kindly let me know if there are any places in the area where I could camp or will I have to drive back to Delta. Also, would I be wasting my time going to this area?

Thanks MX, you are a big help. I also got a Utah Atlas & Gazetteer from Delorme. So with both I should be able to fine my way. I have signed up for a GPS class at the University of Kentucky (Go Wildcats). Looks like I will be heading that way in June. Thanks again, Don

I don't know if you have a particular reason to go to delta or not but it will be hot. There are alot of much better places to go. Murdock basin in the Uinta mountains has lakes you can drive you ATV too also camping in the pine trees. The sinks at the top of logan canyon is great place also. There is a lot of dry camping or you can camp at the KOA at Bear Lake and ride from your camp site up the canyon. Of course you have the Piute ATV trail which is great. Boulder mountains, Fish Lake area.

Hi Ryanstone: Sounds like a great trip. You may want to stay on US 191 once you leave MOAB and head for Monticello where you will be able to ride on trails that have been designated as The San Juan County ATV Safari. For more information you may call Douglas at 435 587-2885. He will give you some good information and also send you a map of the trails in the county. San Juan is a hugh county but very little population and rocks and canyons everywhere. Lake Powell is located in the Southwest portion of the county. You will fall in love with the area as I did. Enjoy your trip and look for an old man on a RED HONDA 450 ES - He may be around the next curve. Don't forget the pictures. See you, DON
