New to forums, new to quads a I need some advice. I am looking to drive up from Phoenix and do Pismo the 23 and 24th of July. I would like to camp at the beach. I have a 2 wheel drive Dodge quad cab, any problems driving on the beach and getting to an area to camp hauling a 2 quad open trailer. Any suggestions for a first timer? fees? best areas to go? How to get to the beach? Any advice appreciated.

You can search the forums for tips on going to Pismo, specifically in this thread, and this section.

Fees will be $10/night for camping.

There may be a few forum members that weekend.

I do not know the issues with reciprocity between AZ & CA with regard to registration of OHV.

As long as the atv/mc's are registered in their home state then, there is no problem in Ca. Here is a link to look at

Thanks, lots of good information. I guess I need to check out the tide tables also?

It appears as long as the ATVs are street legal and plated in AZ it is ok for CA.

Leaving here in a hour to pick up wife's new 500. To bad she has to work today.

Good for you always nice to pick up a new bike!

Look on the web for Pismo Beach Tide tables and you'll find them.

Looking for some info. from someone on how well my Utility Quads will do on the sand without paddle tires?

Anyone tell me if I'm crazy to go without them. If I have to have them where can I find them at pismo?

Thanks,

We go to Pismo at least once a month. We don't have utility quads - however, we have never found the need for paddle tires.

In fact, when I rode a quad with paddle tires, I didn't like the feel and actually prefer the buckshot tires on my own quad.

Hey Craig -

Always, the more, the merrier. We met up with some folks from the msn board for Club ATV West last trip to Pismo and had a blast! Great people to visit with, camp with & ride with. Make sure that you check out their web site for dates to ride together. TONS OF FUN!

sail, might want to check on those plates with Parks and Recreation. CA doesn't recognise street legal ATVs from other states...at least to ride on the road here. If you have to buy stickers they are $25/per bike good through Dec. 31.
