Thats my favorite place to park at high tide. It has always amazed me how little respect some have for that river crossing.
Damm entertaining though.

Hey folks, I don't post much here, but I definitely want to visit Pismo sometime this summer. Please tell me the truck and hauler in the water was not someone trying to cross while it was flooding. If they were camped there that is one thing, but to try to cross as creek/river with a full rig in the sand is crazy.
Also for all you Pismo Historians, my grandfather will soon be interviewed for an upcoming issue of Sand Sports Magazine in their ongoing article "The History of Duning"
He began to go to the Imperial dunes @ 1955, him and 5 friends, they were the first recorded people to build purpose built sand rails in Southern California for the dunes and helped a little store in Glamis become the Mecca of sand duners around the country. (To give an example, Lynn Chenowth) got his idea for a tube frame from one my grandpop built in his garage)
They also traveled to Pismo prior to 1960 and have pictures of them drag racing their water pumper model A and T rails on the beach.
There are a number of pictures from that time that I will also try to scan for your website for historical purposes.

You know, I truly do feel for the family with the truck and toyhauler in the creek incident. However, one question truly comes to mind: "What were they thinking when they decided to attempt a crossing?"

Hard to say. They may have been seeing other people going through and fell into a hole. We've seen that happen before. Hopefully he was as "lucky" and no permanent nasty damage was done. I think you can even see the driver still behind the wheel in one of the pics. Apeears they were trying to leave.

I read at the oceanodunes.org website that the truck and trailer were totaled, the toys were saved though. Also it was stated that the driver was tell his wife just before they tried and cross a few words like shut up and get in the fn truck, what a real moron 1 to try and cross the creek and 2 to talk to a lady like. Too bad stupid is as stupid does......

MWQ, maybe he was the first idiot to try and cross Someone like that has no concept of respect for water can really do. And the sad part about Pismo is, there are more idiots like him out there.
