And im sorry but the stupid guys(sorry but I havnt seen any gals try such things) are a huge part of my entertainment value down there. Its not like I make them cross the river at high tide they do it on their own. And from my experience if you try and warn them they treat you like this guy did his wife.

 

There are a few guys from the spinzone headed down there. Myself, TPR, Webopper and possibly OneFlyCowboy.

 

Thats funny about those last famous words shut up and get in the truck. That sounds so familiar, i guess we crossed around 4 something last saturday and my wife said if you have any doubt at all about crossing the river to let her out and she would pay one of the rangers or those big 4 wheel drives to get her to the other side. Well like you said stupid is as stupid does, with a whole lot of testosterone and 350 hps my f150 2wd and myself get to thinking we can do anything. Those were the last 7 words i said to my wife before we crossed. shut up and get in the truck. about half way across i was wishing she was still talking and we were both still outside of the truck. We did not get stuck but there was about 2 to 3 of the longest seconds of my life where i knew i bit off a little more than i could chew. I knew i was gonna be one of those faces placed on the wall of shame, another idiot lost his ride crossing river at pismo dunes after telling his wife to shut up and get in. You all dont know my wife, she would have called the local news gave them a play by play , word for word of the events that occured to the point of the truck getting washed away. Then she would have told the insurance co. the same thing. Since that is a public highway, does the persons insurance company pay for something like that? I have that aaa road side service where no matter where your at they will come and tow your vehicle 50 miles for free to the destination you are going to. Are the pismo dunes open rite now? i heard do to sewage pismo and avila beach were closed? we are going tommorrow but if there closed i dont want to waste my time.As far as for 4sw , I will be down there, dont know how the bikes will do , i guess all you can do is try and see what happens. Is anyone gonna be at pismo this saturday?

You can always call the park and ask them as well. I've heard the same thing about insurance covering as it's considered a road, as well as sand highway. A friend totalled a '72 (IIRC) Chevy Blazer in '03. It was the last year of that body style, whichever year it was. Anyways, insurance covered it completely. FYI: He rolled it sideways off the steep face of a dune. A few scratches on one person was the only injury.
