Ive been riding there since the mid '70's. It does have some steep hills thats for sure. I dont recomend it to quad riders, but I know some quad riders who love it there. It is a place that if you didnt know your way around it, you could get hurt pretty easilly.

Hi 2FAST,

We've been to Carnegie now 2 or 3 times... 2x with quads. One time just to camp with friends that go there often from CLUB ATV WEST. We didn't do much quad riding the times with quads, as we figured out that it just wasn't for us on our quads.

I agree that it is more of a motorcycle haven... but several friends from the Club would disagree.

Long Barn is off of HWY 108, about 20 miles from Sonora. The group is up to 7 as of right now. We ride a lot of trails. if anyone would like I can post a map.

carnegie well what can one say its the riding park for the not so faint of hearrt ,and I for one love carnegie .Nothing like spending an hour blasting through the river bed endless woops and knarly jump sections good water crossing when the water is running and the hills oh baby love those hills nothing like flying to the top on one of the many [tricky but hella fun] trails what a view .the real deal is the frank grimes on the I5 side of carnegie .talk about knarly hills and tricky trails makes carnegie look like a walk in the park . i guesse what i,m really trying to say is these parks where talking about basicly northern cali riding parks and styles is all dirt and knarly rutts ,rocks ,drops offs, steep hill climbs rivers and small ponds and puddles, bad dogs downed trees at some parks and basicly hard riding my fav. just my two cents abut carnegie.

I dont mind the hill climbs other than you dont have very many oportunities to get past third gear. I just really hated the ruts. I love fast-trail riding up in bootjack/jerseydale, and miami creek. Im sure carnegie is more pleasant to ride during the cooler seasons when its not 100 and dusty as hell.

if you like real serious hill climbs that are rutted up with dirtbike trail you need to try out clear creak just out of coalinga. these hills are pretty challenging , did i mention it also has a little aspestas or asbestos in the dirt but to take care of that just be the leader. you need to go early spring or late fall /winter when theres not any dust.
