How you been? One of the magazines just had an article on that area. I can't find it right now (in my huge pile of back issues), but when I do I will post the reference. The review was VERY FAVORABLE! Lots of wide open BLM land, and the local attitudes seemed to be pro off-road. It's way different from New York though. The low valleys are desert, but there are lots of spectacular mountains too! For an eastern boy it's a shock, but eventually you come to love it. But sell those mud lites, they will be completely useless. I run Holeshot ATR's on my utilities.
You move up there, scout it out, and we will come up and ride with you!

Sounds great!!! Nice to hear from ya!!!
I've been good, things are changing (and not for the better) where I work. So I'm kinda doing some "networking". I just spent all last week in Elko, the company I was working at offered me a job so I gave them my resume and their HR dept is sending me a proposal. So we'll see what they offer. If it's good enough I just may take it and YES it will be a culture shock going from the NE to the desert but also going from a city of 1.2 mil to a town 25 thousand people.
It's funny you mention the MudLites after looking at the riding out here, my first thought was I'm gonna need new tires.

Elko will be different. You might get bored... It's a pretty long drive to the nearest big towns of Winnemucca and Reno.
But the Desert has a million trails.....Utah is relativley close, to drive for more good trails.... You can legally buy any gun you like in Nevada. Any machine gun or assault rifle you want. You can endlessly explore...a million places....
Do you like casino's? You'll probably get sick of them....Although I know several people who hang out in them playing Keno, and they are making money, while getting free drinks and "comps".....
What kind of job would you be getting in Nevada?

Yes, it's going to be a big change for us. The money is there but I need to get the family out there to have a look see which should be in the next couple of weeks.
I'm looking forward to the "small town living", I hope they like it as much. I have no use for casino's, my wife however does. I made need to get one of those easily obtainable guns J/K to keep her out of them. My father is an avid gun collector so that will appeal to him.
The job is working for a company that manufactures surface and under ground mining equipment. They have a service center in Elko that just partnered with the company I work for that manufactures mining process equipment. They will be servicing our equipment now as well. I would be building the process equipment service center from scratch and supervise it once it's up and running. I've been a technician working on the equipment now for 15 years so it will be a step up the ladder.

I'm not surprised at all to here that it's mining related industry.....out in the middle of Nevada, it's pretty much government work or mining, cause there really ain't much else other than Casinos....
Back a few years ago, i was looking for some work, and I ran into some jobs at the mines,.......but fortunately for me I found the job I currently have, and like....in the bay area.
Nevada is covered in BLM land and there are trails everywhere.....once you get too far off the road, it's like the wilderness...and pretty much everybody carries a pistol on their seat in the car....

Elko is in the middle of nowhere. Would be good for riding quads. The cost of living is VERY LOW. You can buy a nice house on acreage for $100k or less probably. Look towards the spring creek area, nicer area and at the base of the ruby mountains. It gets cold in the winter, will have to get into snowmobiles because for 4 months out of the year, its too cold and snowy to ride quads.

My wife isn't going to think the cost of living is low when I tell here I need a snowmobile again (just sold one 2 yrs ago) and possibly a sport quad for the dunes. LOL
The 4 months of cold and snow is about the same as where I live now. We've had it snow the first week of Nov. and the last week of Apr. thats just under 6 months.
