Default NEW Puget Sound/Seattle/Northwest area riders MEET HERE!!! thread

Looks like they are back at it again....PLEASE take the time to read and sent a letter to YOUR Senator to let them know we won't stand quiet while they steal our ORV money while continuing to treat us like criminals for enjoying our sport.
Thank you for taking the time...

CLOUT Legislative Alert: SB 5128, action needed by constituents in your district!

Two of the most anti-OHV Senators in WA State (Jacobsen and the infamous
Kline) are once again attempting to move draconian anti-OHV legislation
through the WA State Senate with their SB5128.

If you have not read Senator Kline's now infamous anti-OHV letter responding
to a CLOUT member's very polite email, it is available on line at -
http://www.off-road.us/ohv-und...ate/senator-adam-klin

e-address-off-road-commu-2.html

Along with a lot of other junk, this draconian piece of legislation would
send you to jail if you "damage vegetation". Your OHV would be forfeited
based solely on probably cause.

YOU are a constituent of one of the Senators on the Senate Natural Resources
committee that will be hearing this very biased piece of legislation this
Thursday, January 29, 2009. It is CRITICAL that you take five minutes to
let your personal Senator know how you feel about this piece of legislation!

The Senators get lots of form email from all over the world. The ONLY ONES
THAT COUNT are those from their CONSTITUENTS. You are one and your voice
counts more than thousands of spam type emails. PLEASE send your email
TODAY using the link provided that will certify your email as coming from a
CONSTITUENT! Yes, send it to Jacobsen and Kline if you are one their
constituents! They need to know how you feel about their nefarious personal
campaigns against OHV recreation.

Please contact your legislator, Senator Val Stevens, immediately! You can
visit your legislator's website immediately by clicking this link:
http://www1.leg.wa.gov/senate/stevens. Sample text that you can copy and
paste into the EMAIL link ON THAT SITE is provided below, or write your own.
It is vital that you make your voice heard on this important issue! (Please
USE the EMAIL link SHOWN on the LINKED SITE in this alert.)

Just CLICK on the green colored "E-mail" hot link right below your
legislator's phone numbers on the page provided in this alert.
Do NOT use regular Internet email as that is very unlikely to get to your
legislator in time.

Please call the Legislative Hotline: 1-800-562-6000 If by some chance your
legislator has chosen not to put an "E-Mail" link on their personal web
page. Read your message to them for this representative and also complain
about the lack of an EMAIL link on their legislative home page. Zack
Hudgins, (D) 11th District is the only one we currently know of who does not
allow EMAIL from his constituents at this time.

Washington CLOUT Action List. To update your status, or remove yourself
from this list, please contact the CLOUT Administrator at
mailto:clout@getclout.org. Forward this notice freely to your associates,
and get them involved, too!

Have your PRO-OHV friends get their own personalized CLOUT Alerts by having
them send an email to mailto:clout@getclout.org with "CLOUT" in the subject
line along with their Name, their voting Zip Code AND your name as a
reference. That's all there is to it. Get them to do it TODAY so motorized
recreation will have an even stronger voice in Olympia.

SAMPLE TEXT (use if it you like!) You can just copy and paste it into the
form on the hot linked site:

Enter "Against SB5128" in the Message Subject: box just above where you
enter your detailed message

Please vote against SB5128 in the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and
Ocean & Recreation.

The Senate Bill Digest clearly states - "..that the vast majority of
off-road vehicle or ORV users in WA Sate are law abiding and conscientous."
It is important to note that Senators Jacobsen and Kline wish to penalize
the "vast majority" of ORV users with this Bill.

If someone is actually damaging private or public property with an offroad
vehicle that act is already illegal and should be punished using existing
laws.

Please note that SB5128 would take funding right off the top of our ORV fund
account before any ORV trail or facility funding would be granted to anyone.
Stealing the small amount of money that comes from responsible Off Highway
Vehicle (OHV) users who worked with this Legislature to tax themselves, then
trusted the State to use that money for their benefit, would allow Senator's
Jacobsen and Kline to further their personal vendettas against family OHV
recreation.

Sending someone to jail for merely damaging any vegetation while otherwise
legally operating an offroad vehicle is more than a bit disproportional in a
state where the Court Rules list the maximum penalty for something as
serious as driving the wrong way on the freeway as $182.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Part of that new Bill reads that only people over the age of 18years old who are licensed drivers will be allowed to operate ORV's and that tickets will be a TRAFFIC INFRACTION. So not only will children not be allowed to ride, but if you get a ticket on your quad, trike or bike, it will affect your insurance in your car, etc.

Nice...

Oh yeah, and an 86db sound restriction is in there, too.

AND Law enforcement can seize your ORV without process if they deem you have violated any of the provisions of this bill...Ironic thing if you keep reading is, that if you don't fight the seizure and get it back within 45 days, law enforcement can RETAIN the ORV FOR OFFICIAL USE OR UPON APPLICATION BY ANY LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY OF THIS STATE RELEASE SUCH PROPERTY TO SUCH AGENCY FOR THE EXCLUSIVE USE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT PURPOSES. OR they can sell it and keep the money.

Pass this along to anyone you know that enjoys owning an ORV.

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Originally posted by: tencubed Anyone have a recommendation on a brand of battery to buy for the quad? Any horror stories with a particular brand?</end quote></div>

I also need one for my Raptor, I checked out RMATV, they had OEM for 100.00 and off brand for 55.00. Did research for reviews on both, couldn't find that one was better than the other. 8 out 10 people were very satisfied with the cheaper battery. That's the route I'll go, cheap is better in this case [img][/img]</end quote></div>

Why replace it Larry...You know you wont be riding it for a year or so

Well, rats! I saw the post by LJ and responded to our State Senator but was too late in doing so. At least he and our Representatives know how I feel about this matter. Thanks LJ and MB for the info.
