Cities and towns barely have enough guys to cover shifts now and have plenty to worry about on the streets. I can't see how they would come up with the resources to start patrolling the woods, trails, etc. to catch and fine illegal riding. However if they do it may be like what Gillette Stadium did. Got rid of all the drunk a## holes that were causing all the problems.

Johnston police get ATVs to pursue landfill trespassers | Rhode Island news | projo.com | The Providence Journal

Proof they have the time, resources, desire and financial backing it takes to pursue illegal riding. It's a landfill, nothing to steal or damage just people's crap and the police spend their time chasing and fining ATVers. They raised all of the fines in this town and made impounding mandatory and very expensive. The fines totaled almost as much as the quad sometimes just because of "storage fees."

Sad part is that I used to live in this town and anytime I needed the police they pretty much told me not to bother them. One time I actually had kids playing chicken with cars, drinking beers and throwing fireworks at cars in/from my driveway. When I called they said "well we get complaints like this all the time and we never catch anyone. We'll try and send someone."

I would be at the next selectman/city council meeting to bitch and ask what the priority is. The little town of Hubbardston, MA is so financially strapped they have one officer on 3X11 and none on 11X7. I don't think they're going to give a rats *** about an ATV.

Everyone knows riding on dumps is a huge no-no. The law will be on your ars so fast its not funny. It would cost lots of money and cause big problems if the liner was damaged

Hey Cudavic I want to see those pics and when do we go over to hubbardston??

I smell a night ride in Hubbardston soon

I see your point about the liner, but never would have thought about it as they drive 20,000 lb machines over the trash all day. I would imagine that there are some more susceptible areas on the outskirts or something that need protecting. Either way I am all set with smelling that stuff while I ride, rather just drive a few hours to NH and smell the pines!

So just a FYI the Bellingham pd do patrol the pits behind Varney brothers. Although when I met them they were very pleasant to me and even waited for me tto pack up and leave.

I have found that most of the time local pd are usually pretty cool with atvers. I have hit the trails with many of them . If you are minding your own buisness, off the road, and no loud pipe they usually just read you the riot act and tell you to beat it. I even have a hand written get out of trouble pass from one of the local cops. The enviro. cops are the ones that cut you no slack.
Maby that has all changed with the new laws and fines. But that has been my experience in the past.
