BansheeBrad, Don't worry about the truck it will pull a 8X20 trailer just fine. I had a 4.6 liter F150 4x4, and know moved up to the 5.4 Liter. As I am sure you know there is no comparision. Now this is just my opinion, if you do move up to the F250 Superduty... Get the Diesel, I know it is more money but it is well worth it. I have a "in" with the local Ford dealer and was looking at moving up to the F250 Superduty. I drove both the V10 and the Diesel over night, I was very impressed with the Diesel, Plus it has the 100,000 mile warrenty. I went with the F150 SuperCrew since I really don't do a lot of long range hauling. Good Luck.

BB, keep in mind that while the diesel has a higher upfront cost, it is more than made up for at trade-in/lease end time and satisfaction during ownership. Also, when the time comes for Wayne to open up, we will need to ride together. I live about an hour away and consider it my "home" riding area. I am there at least twice a month, sometimes 3 weekends in a row.

Banshee Brad,
I don't know if this will help, but I just got a 6'x14' enclosed Pace American trailer. I got the single axle, no brakes option as I can't haul more than two quads at a time and am about 600+ lbs below th GVWR of the trailer. I went with the 6' wide trailer as I was concerned about wind resistance. My '89 Bronco has a puny 5.0L motor and I have some mighty big hills around here to pull that weight up, so I don't want to worry more about extra drag. Currently, I'm looking at some sort of up grade for engine performance. Either a Paxton supercharger, or a 351W motor.
For power, I hooked in one of those 12v "jump start" batteries. It works just fine. I use my trailer as a storage shed too. The 6' has more than enough room to walk around in and even work on my quads if the need arises. Just last week, I changed the rear sprocket on my Sport and never felt cramped or that I needed more space.

I just purchased a 8 x 16 enclosed trailer with a V-nose option. It measures 19' from the ramp door to the inside of the vee nose. Interior height is 6' 4". We have'nt towed it very far yet but I can certainly feel it behind our 2001 supercrew w/5.4 and the 17" wheels. Tounge weight with the quads is about five hundred pounds. Empty weight is 3200lbs. So far we have a Prairie 650, Prairie 300 and a LT80 They fit fine with room for one more kids quad but I doubt you can fit four adult atvs in there. In May we will do a 250 mile trip and then I'll decide on Weight distrubution and sway control.
Good Luck,
Mike

Well I ordered the 8x20, it's a done deal..
2700 pounds dry weight.. I figure about 5k loaded up with 4 400 pound quads and other odds and ends..
already have a reese WD hitch and dual cam anti sway in the garage.. just need the trailer now..
at worst it will be one year with the f-150.. if it's not enough I'll get a f250 or excursion next year...

You should be able to fit 4 adult quads in there. With the length of the prarie (84.8 inches x 2) you have 14 ft 3 inches. The prarie is a long machine in comparison to most that I have checked. So assuming you take 2 praries and 2 other types of quads you should be able to fit 4. I just ordered a 18 x 8 and the v-nose is 4ft long so I have 14 ft of "wide" space. I hope it is enough for 4 adult quads. I am picking it up next week. Is your trailer made out of steel or aluminum? The guy told me that it weighs about 110lb per foot. So about 1950lbs. 3200 lbs empty sounds like a bunch. Got any pictures? Everyone has pics of there quads but none of the haulers. I would love to see some of the haulers people have.
