Ragged...Blind loyalty does have drawbacks. I was a die-hard Suzuki man until the issues with the King Quad slapped me into reality. The fact that Polaris (once again) duped the public with "rounding off" engine size for advertising/sales purposes makes them dis-honest in my book. Also, their ubiquitous service history is hard to get around. One ATV dealer in N. Idaho said to me "if it wasn't for Polaris, my guys (mechanics) would be sitting around". This and the weight of the Polaris 800 is what ultimately turned me off. After riding this Bomb the last 2 weeks... I am convinced that i would have made a monumental mistake in buying the Polaris. This thing does live up to the hype. I was reading on another ATV forum that guys are selling their machines left and right to get a Bomb. I understand. The problem now is that dealers can't keep up with the avalanche of buyers. I'm glad I got this when I did.

All in all, I think we need to pity those that are less fortunate...Polaris owners I mean. I think Mr. Ragged knows what I'ma sayin.

Yeah, and those grapes look sour too! If either one of them offered to trade me straight across one of those 800 Bombs for my Vinson they wouldn't even get to finish the sentence before I'd grab the keys outa their hands and I'd buy em a steak dinner to boot. I bet pretty much everyone in here would do the same, just some of us can admit it.

So the Outlander 800 is a true 800 then I take it? Interesting...well one interesting slant on this is:

Outlander 800 HO towing capacity: 1300 lbs
Polaris "800" towing capacity: 1500 lbs

Imagine if the Polaris was a true 800!

Frankly it could be the other way around and it wouldn't matter at all to me. I'm happy as a clam with my machine. It does what I need and more. Although, if I had to do it again, I might have gone with a 500. When I am not using it to help me do something productive, that machine is more than I need. It likes to drink up the gas. It is a bit bigger than I would like in terms of physical size for a good serious trail ride. The extra power, while nice when helping fellow riders when stuck, is also irritating when one is being thrown about in 2' deep snow ruts. The throttle is touchy. A little goes a long way. And sometimes when shifting ones weight (you know how that can be necessary in those ruts when you get at the fun angle), it's hard to keep my thumb just right. But I'm still mighty happy. Just never satisfied. Having lots of fun though. And has saved my back more than once while doing work.

Oh I'll admit I'd like to have a Outlander (seriously...I would). However, I would also like a Kawi. Mighty curious about the Brute Force. And I never see any Kawi riders here on this thread...which is strange considering how common they are in the dirt bike world. I have read quite a few good reviews on the Brute Force. I was very seriously considering buying one before I purchased my machine. But heck...I like them all. I'll take one of everything if only my wallet would agree to that.

I gotta agree, I'd like to have them all too. The question is, if they were all sitting in your garage, which one would have the most miles on it? I think in my case that new Renegade would be wore out long before the other ones, that is if I didn't end up in intensive care first.

Keep im mind the ribbing I give Jay and Pastor as well and anyone in here is all in fun...

It dont matter what you ride as long as you enjoy the sport..

I am happy with my machine as well, the 500 has plenty of power for me, the extra horse would be nice when your going down wide open trails like Jay and I were up Mica. He was pretty much leaving me going down the open spots. I rode Jays Outty and it is a nice machine it does have alot of power, almost too much. Hitting the gas at any force made the wheels want to spin. If I could afford one I would have got one. But at 9 grand it was a little steep for me.

I dont think I am a die hard Polaris guy. I have a Kawi and Yamaha's also. They are nice machines. All boils down to what fits your butt the best.

Speed and trails or even dirt roads for that matter don't necessarily mix well. Myself...I start getting a bit nervous @ about 45 mph. Maybe that is because I have been away from the sport for a while. I have done much faster. But that was once and frankly it won't be happening again

And in my opinion, some of the funest rides have nothing to do with speed. For me it's terrain. Most likely very mild terrain by most peoples definition. But that is where I have the most fun. Going over big logs...rocks....etc. And if it is on a hill, well that makes it even more fun. And I don't know who said it on this thread, but snow riding truly is a blast. Done lots of that lately in the last month or so. Strangely, I found a car left out in the snow off Bunko a few weeks back. A blue Ford Probe. Didn't see any tracks in the snow for it going in. Looked like whomever drove it in stopped just in time to keep from going off the edge. Wonder if it has been there all winter?

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO TELL YOU GUYS ABOUT THE MIGHTY BOMBS FOR A WHILE NOW !!! NOW THAT I HAVE WELL OVER 1200 MILES ON MINE (2003 400HO) I THINK THE PERFECT SIZE WOULD BE THAT 650 OUTLANDER THEY JUST RELEASED. THE 400 HAS PLENTY OF POWER THOUGH ! ON A DIFFERENT NOTE HAS ANYONE TRIED TO GO UP PAST THE FERNAN SADDLE LATELY ? I WAS UP THERE TWO WEEKS AGO AND THE FURTHEST YOU COULD GET WAS TO THE FIRST JUNCTION THERE WAS A FOOT PLUS OF SNOW ON THE GROUND? 10 OF US ENDED UP GOING TO THE POTLATCH AREA FOR A WEEKEND CAMPOUT AND WHEELER RIDE ! WHAT A BLAST ! WE HIT UNPASSABLE SNOW AT 4500 FEET , WE ALMOST MADE IT TO SOME BIG FIRE WATCH TOWER.

Jeeze didn't mean to start a war here. You know the 800s are great, until something better comes along... and it will. (by the way the 650 does look good, and a nice price) Nearly every quad shines in one situation or another. Drag racing? I'll take the Bomb800. Pulling, working, soft ride? The 800 Polaris. Riding in snow? 350 Rancher! The point is, It doesn't really matter what your riding. The question is what can you do with it? To me what it comes down to is the rider. Don't believe me? I'm always up for a game of follow the leader.
