"The point is, It doesn't really matter what your riding. The question is what can you do with it? To me what it comes down to is the rider. Don't believe me? I'm always up for a game of follow the leader. "

RockmanATV...I want to support amd become a member of the N. Idaho ATV club...I am living in Wa. does it matter?
If something like this would have started in WA. a long time ago, we probably wouldn't be in the shape that we are in over here!
All of the Polaris bashing is meant with alot of jest...Ragged has been hassling me about what I ride since the begininng. In fact, the reason why I am riding is becasue of Ragged...he was the biggest influence on me finally taking the leap! The reason why I didn't buy Polaris 4 years ago was: COST! They were the most expensive bikes on the market. Then I started doing some investigating on Polaris...and ...well...lets just say I wanted to stay away from them! However, Ragged's delusions about Polaris are too big not to notice and poke fun at!!!

We have lots of members from WA. Would love to have your support, its all about the numbers. The larger the membership, the bigger influence we have. When you sit down to some of these meetings, whether its with our land managers, local or state politicians, they take notice when you represent hundreds of ATV enthusiasts. Every membership counts. Good things are starting to happen. Next months meeting will have a special guest speaker. She will be talking about the seasonal closures on some of our trails. It seems nobody can give a specific, let alone a scientific reason why we have them or who decided on them and for what reasons. If its for wildlife habitat, where are the studies? I've heard several different reasons why from different agencies. So hopefully she will help shed so light on the issue and we can move toward removing some of these closures. She is a great ally to have in the Forest Service and is very pro OHV and recreation.

I did however try to get in to Lake Elsie with the Dodge Ram on Sunday....I got close but couldnt make it in with the truck...to much snow....the first snow I crossed really freaked me out when the rear end slid all the way out to the verry edge on the mountain.....I thought for a split second we would go over but I slamed the breaks just in time...a couple more crossings in 4 wheel drive wernt to bad but when it got deep AND slanted toward the edge I desided to back it up the way I came cuz I couldnt turn around...about a mile and a half of backing up...My wife wasnt digin it at all...lol
Got to hold a wild elk calf while I was up there to...it was quite an experiance..glad momma kept her distance till I could her the little guy outta the road....I got pics I'll try and post soon...

Here's my 2 cents worth.
If I wanted a tow vehicle, I'd buy a Duramax Chevy Oh wait, I already did that one. Honestly, when's the last time you saw a guy in the woods riding an ATV pulling a big trailer?? Would you really want to pull a 1300 pound trailer, let alone a 1500 pound one? Not me.
I think tire selection & air pressure, vehicle weight, and having either a small weak engine, or a very light throttle coupled with a proper clutch setup and 4X4 system to keep from spinning is everything in the snow. Not sure how much technique has to do with it. Sorry. I don't think those big Polaris' sink like rocks just because of the rider not using proper technique, they just aren't good snow vehicles.
We should all join the North Idaho ATV Association. My check is in the mail today.
Ragged makes an excellent target, so keep firing one and all
I too would like to have at least one of every new ATV on the market. If I were as rich as Bill Gates, I'd buy all of us one of every new ATV and that way we could all go on rides with the exact same quad whenever we wanted to. Except Ragged. I'd only buy him some new Honda's

And for larger jobs, I use my Cummins to get the job done...which of course works quite well. AHEMM...610 lbs of torque per foot vs the Duramax 605. But I'm a nice guy as Ragged pointed out. And I'll help you on those jobs where both your ATV and truck just don't quite have enough umph
For snow, I do great. The idea that weight and snow don't mix is a half truth. Don't forget...what do we all do when the roads are slick? Put weight in the back of our trucks. I have been up in some deep snow. And I have both sunk in it and rode on top of it. And when I go riding with some friends guess who gets stuck? Not me. I don't have any friends with Bombs so I can't comment there. But I am yet to get stuck. Now when I say stuck I mean can't get out and need to winch out or be pushed. Matter of fact, I think I can force my way through things lighter bikes can't. Ruts for example. I have seen people who can't decide where to go when in deep ruts. They have to follow the rut. Not me. I'll blast right through the side of that thing. Also having true four wheel drive (not three wheel like some others) is quite helpful. But outside all that, I have found a good tred really helps me a ton. And I do agree with what was said about the rider. And I'm honestly not very good.
And lastly on the subject of weight, I do think excess weight is a valid issue. That and center of gravity. However, my skid plate is steel. Not plastic like some other machines out there. The place where I put my feet is steel. What good is a light bike if you crack the place where you put your feet after going over a few logs? Or even worse...the skid plate. Lots of new bikes have lots of plastic.
Also on the subject of dimensions...lets get down to brass tacks.
I'm 83" L
Your 86"
I'm 48" W
Your 46
I'm 48" H
Your 45
The Polaris is taller and wider. Your bike is longer. I would purpose that the difference in size is not that vast. It is there. But often exagerated.

wow....that was good stuff right there.....smooth...yet direct....kind...yet factual ...your coming along nicely 800TwinEFI...just a smoother style....your much more likely to briging over a few converts than I am by attempting to manipulate them...some poeple just have to have the revalation for them self....we cant sit them on the seat of a poo and tell them they like it....That will never work...they will just get off never giving it a full blown test drive and never get back on....but if we can just keep offering to let them ride it and let them make up there own mind you will have Bomb riders and Honda riders that will become the most brand loyal poo riders we could ever have and like me....... they will never leave the fold...
Good job 800twin....I think I'll try your style.....aaaa.....maybe not....mines much more fun...lol
POLARIS FOREVER BABY!!!!!!!!

800TwinEFI, rest assured this isn't the only thing I question about your post, but it is one of the most obvious. You burn 1500lbs of wood a week!? Where the heck do you live, the Superdome? Good God man, buy some insulation for your house!
Oh yeah, your 55hp 800 (cough 760 cough cough) will run out of oomph long before a 62hp 800 (cough real 800 cough cough) Bomb will. Since we are being factual and all.
