Pastor you old dog! You got your flame suit on and you have been baiting me:

Oh too funny. But it's all good my friend. Nothing wrong with a little devils advocate for fun and I certainly had it coming. The ironic thing is I didn't know the bomb didn't come with a skid plate. That was a secret bonus I discovered today. I was actually thinking about when I was at CDA Polaris looking at either the Kawi or Artic Cat. I think it was the Kawi.
Ragged you see that? Pastor still has hope. Are you still selling that King Quad? I might know somebody who would be interested.

Does anyone else chuckle and laugh out loud when they read this thread. My wife catches me and thinks I'm up to something I shouldn't be doing. "What are you laughing at?"
Now a chord/cord of wood is 4x4x8 feet right? And weighs how much? I used to burn that stuff for many years and all I can say is Thank You God For Inventing Heat Pumps If I never lift another axe the rest of my life it will be too soon. If any of you guys know where Kath road is, between Newman and Hauser lakes. It's at the base of Ragged ridge. I grew up in the second to the last house at the end of that road in a trailer that I am sure had one inch thick walls with zero insulation, and we heated with wood. The neighbors down the road in that old log cabin had three boys, and a dad who thought he was a logger, and so we fell, skidded, cut, chopped, and stacked wood nearly year round. They were the only neighbors for miles around, and they couldn't play unless they got some wood gatherin done, and so it went. Ya wanna play, ya gotta chop. The Sierra Club would have had us killed if they knew how much wood we were burning every year. Smokey the Bear would have gotten sick and stopped pooping in the woods if he knew. Spotted owls be damned, we needed more BTU's baby!!!! Woooo
One year I thought I would be smart, being a teenager and all, I knew more than anyone else, and so I decided to just put the wood up in rounds, and cut it as I needed it. My dad felt that all wood should be split before stacking it, but I was lazy and quite a bit more intelligent than he, and so I put it up in rounds. Ahhh there's nothing like standing out in the pouring freezing rain at 0200 splitting wood because you were too smart to just split it all last fall. I learned what the word procrastinate meant. Procrastinate is bad I learned. I don't do it any more. Many years later, my sons learned the same lesson as I smiled at their weeping and lamenting. It brings joy to a father's heart to know that he is imparting such wisdom to his children.

Honestly I just pulled that info on weight from here:
http://listserv.repp.org/pipermail/s...ry/004854.html
Seemed like a pretty knowledgable fellow. I have ran off natural gas for years. I think we all got kinda sucker punched on that in my opinion. But anyway...it wasn't until the last year or so I started with wood. But I gotta tell you, it's not that bad. Of course, I should confess I have not gone out and got the wood. Been thinking about it though. But I purchased everything I have used so far. And anymore, you can get it split. Peopple I know with families have been telling me their utility bill with gas in the winter was running around $350. I paid on average, $150 for a cord of wood. Throw in $40 for electric and I'm saving some good money. If I go out and get it myself, I'll really be saving something. And if I do that, I may just have a excuse to go purchase one of those log splitters (which I confess I have never used).
But right now I don't pay for water or sewer or any city services. I don't pay a utility for heat. I could not pay for it all with some extra effort. And my goal is to spring for some solar panels and maybe a diesel generator and pretty much get away from the utility company as well. I just like the idea of being free from a lot of these things. I have lived in this area for over 30 years and the cost increases over time really had to be witnessed to be appreciated. It truly is insane.

you men crack me up. It truly is fun to read the chest bumping going on in this forum.
So, I have word on the scrambler. I get this call from polaris this morning and get the news that it's going to (cough, cough, gag) cost me $1400.00 to fix her(parts and labor). Yea, I almost dropped the phone. This guy at the shop ( I miss randy, he was honest and told me how to do my own work, this guy won't even really talk to me) proceeds to tell me that I need new clutch plates, a new belt, new chain, new sprocket, front a-arms and my valves done. Now I took it down there because I couldn't get it started. Turns out it was the fuel filter. Or so they say. I don't really trust them.So we'll see.......................... So I say to him
"is my bike still stripped down and on the lift"? He says to me "well ya why?" and I say "because I'm on my way down and I want you to show me." I don't think this happens very often because his reply after stuttering was..."well we don't really have time for that we are so backed up". I say " look little man( pretty much all men are little compared to me) if your going to rape me for 1400 bucks I am going to look at it before I say yes, I'll be there in 20 minutes." So I jump in my big ol ford, suck down a quarter tank of gas doing 85 and go down there.
Upon inspection it turns out that I am getting new clutch plates, they did look wasted and I will put a new belt on myself. My valves will be done because I haven't had them done in a while but my chain just needs tightening( I'll do that myself) the sprocket is fine, no teeth missing and nice and sharp ( he couldn't explain that one ) " that's what the mechanic told him he says"
The a-arms looked fine and he was taken aback when I asked "can't you just replace the bushings?" Is it cause I'm a girl or what because he looked a little shocked. " we recommend you replace the whole thing" Ya bull*(&^*&%#$" tell him. So they are going put new bushings in and my bill has miraculously gone from 1400 down to 600 bucks. Has anyone else had issues with Allsport or is it because I'm a girl? Just wondering. She won't be done for a least another week because of parts ordering and I am worried they'll sabatoge something else because I was kinda Bit(*&^y
Not really but I was insistant and I am not just opening my wallet on the word of someone I've never met and don't trust in the first place. I think they're all thieves. Are there any honest reputable mechanics out there? I hate going to the dealership. But what else to do?

Buy a Suzuki.
Sorry, couldn't resist. I know how you feel. I just spent (another) $900 bucks on my truck getting brakes done and axle seals etc. rotors were shot, drums needed turned, etc, etc. At least I knew what they were telling me was true, but I just don't have the time and the shop to do it all myself. I could be driving a new rig for what I've been paying in repair bills this last year. Then they tell me it's my fault for putting the 35" tires and a 6" lift on it, so I tell them it's Chevy's fault for building low rider "off road" trucks that aren't tuff enough to take off the road. Really, you'd think I had put 44" gumbo monster mudders on it or somthing. Oh well, you wanna play you gotta pay.

Sramblher...Welcome to the wonderful world of Polaris! It was at All Sports where I saw rows and rows of broken down "newer looking" bikes. This was the determining factor of why I didn't buy a 800SP...I have NEVER been happier with a quad than I am right now with the Bomb. Over on the bombardier site, there is a guy who totally immersed his bomb....had to tow it out. Changed the plugs and oil....fired right up! As far as he can see...everything is a o.k.....

Nancy.
I wasnt too impressed by Allsport. THey give me the feeling they are crooked. When I was going to deal with them on my Sportsman I gave them the chance to match Macks. The owner of the company said no deal. And gave me a price of $500 over Macks price. I asked them about the $500 rebate and they said that "the $500 rebate was theirs and it didnt come with a winch" Did you know they are building a new shop? Wonder if the $500 rebate is buying their new shop.
Talked to CDA polaris, (owned by allsport as well) They seemed nicer out there. But didnt match Macks apples for apples. The difference was in WA and ID tax. About a 300 difference in price.
Needless to say I didnt buy it from them. I went back there for some oil and the sales gal Sam saw me.. I bought a Big wheel from them about 5 yrs ago. They treated me good then. She asked if I got one while I was holding 2 qts of polaris oil, i said yeah i got one, she asked where.. I said "not here i got it at macks. The owner here wanted $500 over macks" She just shook her head in discust"
When I got my BW 5 yrs ago they seemed alot fairer now the feeling i get is they are out for the buck.
So for your answer im my opinion I dont trust them that far. I did ask the guys in the shop about a few things, seemed to be helpful. Id take my polaris to Macks over allsport.
You know who I have had good luck with is a place in greenacres called M.A.S.H. The guys in there are pretty nice and down to earth. I took my Kawi into there to get the carb fixed. Cost me $65 bux and runs great. The mechanic even did a few tweeks on it.
Roudneys Kawisaki informed me "they wouldn't work on anything that old" Makes you wonder...
If it sounds like I am trying to make a plug for Macks i am not. So far they have treated me good.
Good luck Nancy..
