Everyone alright? That was one hell of a storm! I saw that tornado up here on base, it was crazy. We got so much hail we had to send out the graders out to clean up some of the roads. There were rivers of ice on the flightline too. I wish I had my digital camera.

I heard lightning hit the runway and put a nice hole in it at FAFB? I guess a guy near Airway Heights used to have a barn full of hay and you wouldn't even know it was there after that tornado touched down.

Ya it was some storm! It was doing the same thing in MI...My mom and Dad were supposed to be flying in from mich. and there were the same kinda storms there that canceled there flight!!
But.......since they didnt fly in toninght and wont be here till tomorrow evening....IM IN FOR CANFIELD IN THE MORNING! unless its pouring down rain....Im gonna try and find my rain suit....Used it alot back in MI but sure havent had a need for it out in this dust bowl called Spokane...

So all the rain aught to be pretty fun! Maybe some good mud holes eh?? :-)

Too cool you get to go riding!!!! Should be a sloppy mess for us up there I have rain gear top and bottoms. If I can stay dry and warm, I'll ride in any weather.

A TORNADO IN SPOKANE????? Actually we've had some funnels, but never anything too destructive. I'd like to see the shredded barn if it got hit by a twister. Morbid curiosity.

Wow, what a ride yesterday;
After GWP, Wife-O-GWP, Brother-O-GWP, and Ragged had to leave, My buddy Mike and I went on one long trek. We put on another 20 some miles after y'all left. We followed a very cool unmarked trail off the Canfield system that went on and on and on. Acording to my GPS, we were up near the top of Hayden lake, although in the fog/clouds we could have been 200 yards from the lake and still not seen it. We got into a pretty serious pickle and it was beginning to look like an overnight stay was in store for us. Let me explain.

We were on one of those super narrow/slick/steep downhills when we came upon a tree across the trail. Both bikes winching could not move it and so we were going to have to back up the trail to the nearest wide spot to turn around. This is where the Honda not only let me down; it nearly made us stay the night. You see the Honda has a limiter on reverse. Not usually a problem on flat ground, but when you are trying to back up a steep muddy trail, the stupid thing is trying to kill the engine, and foul the plug. There was talk of lighting the Rincon on fire and ramming it through the front glass windows of the dealership if/when we got back. This limiter has to go ASAP!!!! We ended up winching the bike around in the narrow/steep/muddy trail at no small perile to ourselves. Once I drove back up the trail a ways, it was time for Mike to back his up. Guess what, even with his limiter override button in, the narrow/steep/muddy trail would not let him out and so we winched his around also. Even after getting his nose uphill, we had to winch the Polaris up the hill because the trail/goat path was now shredded, and his bike just wanted to slide sideways off into tumblesville. I think I am going to take my chainsaw up there and see just how far that trail goes. AFTER THE MUD DRIES A LITTLE OF COURSE!!!

Now that I'm not looking at spending the night in the pouring rain on a muddy goat trail, and I've had a chance to calm down a little, I guess I won't light the Rincon on fire and ram it through the front glass of the dealership. (Although that would be kinda satisfying ) I'm gonna find a way to eliminate that stupid reverse limiter, that's for sure.

By the way, I very much enjoyed GWP's wife being along with us. What a wonderful Lady. LOTS of courage and plenty of skills. Never complained at all. GWP, you should keep that one.

Man Jay! That sounds like quite a ride...LOL That was a great ride for me also....I think the next time we gotta rainy day we grab the quads and head out!!

Sorry we lost you guys...I thought everyone was behind us and when we got to the next trail connection we waited for a while then headed back ....we even hit the rest or the little spin off trails and nothin...Of cource we did all this at HIGH speed!
We gotta little turned around on the way back to the truck but quickly realized we made a wrong turn....but that was after Chris was on a fast ROCKY down hill ...cought a rock hard on the left tire ...ripped the stearing outta his hands and spnt him over the bars!! I thought for sure that the bike was gonna start endoing down the hill over him or at the verry least...RUN HIM OVER! but at the last second the handle bars hooked him spun him around and he went off the right front feet first and was able to get outta the way and catch the bikes break before it got away! I realy thought it was over! Thought I would be towing his 700 home in a wad! after we rushed him to the hospital! But the Lord was watchin over him cuz that was an amazing dismount!!

Cant wait to get back out there....I gotta chain saw also if need be! Lets go blaze some trail Jay! Sounds like ya better keep a Polaris with ya if you get inna bind...I got your back man!! (wink)

Ragged;
You will of course note that once the bikes were turned around, the Honda drove out, while the Polaris had to be winched out

I also have a chainsaw, and would like to see just how far we can go up in those hills. Gotta rig up some sort of saw carrier. I got home and looked on the map, we were on Huckleberry mountain. We had just passed the top and were headed down the other side when we came onto the tree. Looks like we weren't far from a logging road when we had to turn around. Mike's dad said that we should be able to ride clear to Kingston from Canfield. That would be some ride eh?

BTW; I guess the problem with my pics is file size. I need to make them smaller in order to upload them to my page. I don't know how to do that though.

Hey all,
Headed to Santa, Idaho this weekend for a ride again. There was a poker ride there a couple of weeks ago and there seemed to be a lot of trails. Sooo we are going to scout them out this weekend. Looks like we will be able to stay at the rodeo grounds again and ride out of there. Santa is about and hour and a half out of Couer d' Alene, just past St. Maries a ways. We will be headed that direction Friday after work. Let me know if interested I will give more details.
Thanx
