Jay & Everyone ~ I have to say that was quite a ride. Sounds like you ended up with some fun too!! After wife and I started heading down trail 10 I realized that we should have stuck to the known trails. I turned out to be mx rut some times over 2 feet deep that we had to stradle while laying into the brakes going down the steep incline. If we sliped and fell into the ravine . . . well I don't want to think about it. Once at the bottom it was some tricky sideways jagged rock. My poor wifes had was hurting from gripping the brake so hard so I finished off trail 10 and hiked back up to assit her, (only with the last 50 yards or so) took a look at the map and I figured that we would stay on trail A and head up trial nine, it was a little shorter. . . . well not so we did a creek crossing and ended up on someones private land with NO Trespassing signs everywhere. We managed to find a really decent trail to climb out of the bottom and back up to A. After a couple of intersections I wasn't sure which one was a or not. I did remember that trail 8 took us down and out and that trail was headed in the right direction so off we go. About 20 minutes into the steeeep and very technical down hill I remember where this trail comes out. . . . OH MY LORD! I am taking my poor rooky wife out to the nettleton gulch parking lot!!!!! By then we were on the mountain side and couldn't turn around even if we wanted it would take just way to much time. So we went nice and slow on that VERY narrow and VERY muddy mountain side. My wife was scared more then once, but she followed me and did exactly as I did and was able to make it, untill we got to the end and she realized what we had to do. I was stressing because it was just me and her. I had only been down this trail once!! While I explained the process that needed to happen and my wonderfull wife, bless her heart was having a difficult time with the idea. It started to down pour and there was a small stream of water cascading down the center of the trail. We sucsseffuly crossed my quad acrossed the narrows and started getting the Xplorer across when I felt the front end start to slide ever so slighty. While I was hanging on the racks I had her crawl off the bike and over me. The Xplorer stay put while I rode my bike back up and connected the winch and winched the Xplorer across the narrows. Of course while doing this we aquired a audience of 2 vehicles and a bicyclist on the trail all watching these to crazy people with quads on a MX trail. After that it was a straight shot down to the car, very very wet and starting to get cold. We came out about 20 minutes after Ragged and my brother came out.

My wife is now a veteran of some of the worst riding available to us that I know of! She enjoyed very much the ride and meeting Jay and Mike. She is a wonderful woman and I am blessed!

I am looking forward to heading back up there again and finding the end of some of these trails.

Hey Kip ~ Can you give more specifics on how to get there? I don't know if I will be able to get out, but we will have to wait and see what this week holds! I would love to if I can!

GWP;
After Mike & I went on our little 20 mile venture, we came back to the spot where you left us, and we went down the trail you're talking about. All the way down I was thinking how sorry I was for having sent your wife down that thing. Had to be the worst rutted trail we saw all day. I cannot believe she will ever trust us enough to go riding with us again. The pouring rain was great as far as I'm concerned, but on that particular trail, it made the level of difficulty nearly double.

I can just imagine the comments being made at the Nettleton parking area seeing you two emerge on trail 8 and then getting across that narrow spot heeheehee.

By the way guys;
I just posted on the highlifter forums telling the Eastern Washington/North Idaho riders there to come and take a look at this thread we have going here. Would be cool to plan out a big long ride with about 50 quads or so someday eh? Preferably in the rain

I would love to hit the trail with 50 other quads!!! Whoooo Hooooo that would be a blast!

Well we went on a last minute ride up to Mica peak today, my brother, his wife and me and my wife. When we got to the gate to park we were surpised to see a truck that resembled Jay's. . . . wow fancy meeting him up here!! Untill I walked past the truck and saw the camel cigs sitting there. . . . no way that would be his truck! We only rode for a few hours. When the sun sets it gets really chilly really fast! It was fun to get out though!! The only complaint I kept hearing is. . . "this would be more fun if I was riding my own quad" I give you three guess who said that and the first 2 don't count! Yes my wife enjoyed the little trail riding but kept commenting how she wants her own.

Jay ~ my wife and I thank you for the comments you made her blush. She really did enjoy the ride and learned allot.

I have to post this though. She has now ridden 2 different sp700's, a sp500, a polaris Xplorer 400, and a Honda Rincon 650. You will never guess which one she likes the most! There were high points for each, but the one that she wants as her own is the SP500 like Raggeds machine. I need a higher paying job to support this new found hobby of hers!! Of course I get the big truck to pull the double trailer!!

I think that we would really like to go for a nice ride over the long weekend next weekend. My wife says she will only go if she can ride by herself. . .hmmmm well since my brother is heading to CA for memorial weekend she is sweet talking him into letting her ride his sp700.

|Anyone up for a good long day ride over memorial weekend???? May-be with a chainsaw, Jay?

I would think that the sportsman 500HO WOULD be the preferred atv among women

You're right about the cigs though. Man oh man have I seen some nasty results from smoking!!!!
Had a person in the ICU last night that had been smoking while using oxygen. Now oxygen does not burn you know, it merely promotes combustion. Any flammable material will combust WAY better in the presence of high concentrations of oxygen. Materials such as nose hairs and lung tissue you see. I'm sure you can imagine where this is going ICKY

WHOOOOAAAAA THEERE!!! This is preeetty strange coming from a guy who owns a polaris and just recently said this abut his HONDA

This is where the Honda not only let me down; it nearly made us stay the night. You see the Honda has a limiter on reverse. Not usually a problem on flat ground, but when you are trying to back up a steep muddy trail, the stupid thing is trying to kill the engine, and foul the plug. There was talk of lighting the Rincon on fire and ramming it through the front glass windows of the dealership
Jay ~ I can't believe you!! Just when I thought there was hope for you. . . .hmmmmm

Ragged ~ I would love to go out Friday however, I can't get out of work. I could go sat, mon or tues of next week though as I have a four day weekend.

I was wondering where AJC dissappeared to too! We haven't heard from him!
