I'll trade some directions around the Wallace Avery area for some details on where the heck Laird and Santa are

...sounds like some good ridin'!

Santa and laird park are on hwy 3 south of st maries. Just follow hwy 3 out of st maries and you will come to the hwy 6 junction is what i beleive it is there are signs that point up to santa. If you blink you will miss the town HEHE!! there are some fairgrounds or at least a horse arena off to the right and that is where the ride starts.
I believe laird park is off of hwy 6 south of st maries. I have only been there once. So hopefully some body else has better directoins

As far as the wallace avery area. We do most of our summer riding around the st. joe area ie falls creek, mastadon, lemonade, baldy, elsie lake--but if you know of some other great areas--PLEASE share!!

Hey Ragged, I hate to tell you this, but that tent camping ain’t gonna be any better than you remember it! We also have a camp trailer, but we can’t haul our two four wheelers and bring the camper at the same time, so we’ve resorted to the ol’ tent when we go on camping trips now. I need to get one of them “sled decks” so I can haul the four wheelers and pull the camper at the same time, that would be sweet.
Anybody got any advice on one of them decks that go in the P.U. bed? I’d like to get one where the ATV’s sit side ways, so I can drive ‘em up one side and down the other, I get scared backing down steep, long ramps.
When we go camping we normally just ride Forest Service roads, I don’t know of many “legal” ATV trails where we go.
Calispal Meadows is a nice place to camp with plenty of roads to explore, you turn off Hiway 211 just past Davis Lake, follow Westside Calispell Rd, turn west and follow Middle Fork Rd until you get to the meadows, lots of free, primitive camp spots along the creek.
Another nice spot is north of Chewelah up Sand Canyon Rd. to FR012, free camping along the creek and meadows.
Also, lots of places in the hills east of Priest Lake, big mountains to explore, but once again, mostly Forest Service Roads.

Akkarw….I don’t know how we missed you guys either, we left the Rodeo Grounds around 10:00 and got back around 4:00. Maybe you and us were so covered in mud, we didn’t recognize each others!!!

Ragged, I am still new to the Laird Park area, but most of the riding is on old abandoned skid trails. There is a trail system that was made for dirt bikes, and alot of it has been turned into a quad trail. Some of it is pretty narrow and steep side hill where the atv traffic has not widened it out yet. We rode for about 4 hours on Sat. and stayed off maintained roads the entire time. I would assume if you rode all day you would have to use some roads just to connect to other trails.

Kori is correct, Laird is off of hwy 6 south of St. Maries. From hwy 95 head south through Worley and Plummer until you reach Potlatch Jct. Head east on hwy 6. Laird Park is actually a State park, but if you go on past there is a ton of camping spots along the roads. I hear this is an extreamly busy place for the major weekends. but is not too bad on normal weekends.

Wizonkiz, I have one of the atv racks that you speak of. The only suggestion that I can offer is to get a system that rests on the bed of your pick-up. Mine rests on the bed rails and requires at least two stong guys to load. Before we had this rack, I took an aluminum loading ramp and bolted it to the bead rails. I used two 8' 2x6s as loading ramps. I see that you ride Polaris' so you may need stronger ramps.

oooooo...ouch! Just rember that the power to weight ratio isnt as important with quads as sleds.... I like the weight when it comes to pullin or pushin...

We should set a weekend aside and all get together for a saturday ride....so when and where will it be? ( the sooner the better..lol...I gotta get out!

Thanks for the info! Sounds like u ride where we ride around Mastadon & Elsie areas. If you go into Wallace, you can go south on the Moon Pass road and there are tons of trails off both sides. I also heard you can go north, but that is mainly road ridin'. You can go from the top of Moon Pass over to Elsie with some great views! Maybe we'll see you guys up there this weekend; plan on doing some camping Sat night if the T storms don't keep us away!
