The AD Bovin ones are 50% gear reduction. They also make some that are only 2 or 3 % gear reduction. I'm not sure what the Polaris ones are. They said Polaris right on them, but I'm sure they're made by another manufacturer because I see that Bombardier has some that look exactly like the ones I saw on the Polaris, except they say Bombardier on them. The guy at the dealership said they were selling them for $2800. You couldn't get much snowmobile for that kind of money, and since you could ride over rocks, mud, snow etc. I think they'd be pretty handy. Let's face it, in order to ride your snowmobiles much, you have to trailer them from here to timbucktwo every time. And then as soon as the snow gets patchy, the season is over unless you want to thrash your sled.

Anybody going riding this week?

Ther was a guy at the 10,000 silver dollar bar last winter that was climbing all over the big mountains of snow while we were unloading...amazing! There aint no way a tired quad could do that....
You would be amazed what the right quad with the right tires can do in the snow.

Congrats on the buck Ragged, any pics? Mine was just a little 4x4 (counting eyeguards), but I'm just a meat hunter so as long as they are a decent size I'm happy.

I've been looking at tracks for the quad for a while now, but I just don't want to spend 3 grand. There is a company in Spokane that makes three different styles, and I also like the looks of the litefoot. I'm pretty sure they could go anywhere my sled could go, but that's only because I'm a chicken on my sled.

Has anyone ever tried ski's in the front? I read somewhere (Dirt Wheels?) that the ski's in the front and tracks in the back, performed way better than tracks rear and front, in the snow.

We went up Canfeil on sunday, did some explorin'. I don't remember who said it, maybe it was JayDeeCoy, but they recommended going past Fernan and pulling of the side of the road onto the trail, well the first time up past Fernan, we went way past that to a parking lot. We played around there and went on some small trails. But on Sunday there wasn't any snow there, so we took one of the main roads the branched off from the parking lot, for a couple of miles, and we found this awsome intersection of like 5 ATV/Dirt Bike trails. And each of the two we took, branched out into several more! It was awsome. One of the trails we went on had a bunch of whoops ever 10 feet or so, so we were jumpin' and jumpin', it was so much fun! My Dad is still complaining about how his neck hurts from that, ha!

What really stinks though, is that we were up riding this odd trail that went just straight up the mountain, we followed it for a while, and then we both saw 3 nice bucks, standing there starin' at us. And there we were, my dad had his new 300 Winchester Short Mag, and I had my 243, but no hunting lisences. He brought his 300 because it was brand new and he wanted to shoot it, I had my 2.43, well because I haven't shot it in a while ^^. But we didn't want to get an out of state hunting lisence so we decided to wait the 6 months and go hunting next year. At that point I think it might have been worth it, lol.

Ok I have a question!!
Here is the deal--North Idaho Atv Assocation is considering putting on an ATV challenge in May. The tenative dates are may 6th and 7th. The challenge would include mud bogs, drag racing, obstical course, and some other events-for ALL ages. It would probably be held at the fair grounds in Coeur D alene.

My question is how many would want to participate in an event like this. We are trying to figure out how many people would come to an event like this. To our knowledge outside of the wallace jamboree there isn't a challenge like this.

Prizes would be awarded. Camping is availabe also.

ANY input is appreciated. Please ask your friends too just so we can get an idea of how many people.

Thank you,
Kori

I would be interested more in a long family oriented trail ride, rather than the rodeo type stuff.

I think we should talk to all the local dealers about mentioning this thread to everyone who buys a new quad. I wonder if the dealers would consider that?

Thats true. THe goal of the dealer we are working with is to see how many atv's we could possibly get in one area. With that being said we are open to suggestions on how to do this. The only problem with doing a ride is if you get a whole bunch of people--for example the 300 or 400 he usally gets for his spring ride--there is a huge liablilty if someone were to get hurt. Now if some smaller rides were orginized that would be fun too. Rightnow we are trying to figure out who woudl want to come. If having a trail ride would interst more people--then one would possibly be included!!!

Thank you so much for your input!!

Kori,
Personally, I prefer trail rides. I don’t think I would enjoy neither participating nor watching a rodeo event, while I could be up in the surrounding mountains cruising down the trails. My machine and I hate mud and the clean up after, if it can be avoided. I’m sure you would have a great turn out though and people would have a fun time. This is my opinion only and beings I’m not a club member yet, don’t let my opinion influence your decision because of it.
Now, when we gonna get together again for a group ride?
