Default advice from faster rappys

I used everything stock when i did mine, I went with the 11:1 JE Piston and it all worked out fine, but then I needed more power and got the 727 kit... Hope that helps though!!

well if you go bigger than bore it if you go the same size piston than just hone if if it needs it make sure your rings are not to tight in the cylinder

ok, thanks. from you guys that have been through all of this, do you wish you had skipped the "stage 1" motor and went straight to the big dog 686 or 727? i've got a 5 liter mustang with a 14psi procharger on it so i obviously love going fast but my wife rides the raptor sometimes and i don't want it to be an unreliable finnicky quad.

If I had to do it again I would get the JE piston first like I did before because it is cheaper than the 686 or the 727!! That is just my advice but it is your money not mine, see if you like the piston and cam first then u can always go higher to the big bore kits, the piston and cam should be around 400 or less compared to 2,000 for the bore kit!!

IMO mine flys........but It could have more top end power........I think that if I had to do it again...I would get the stage 2 hot cam rather than the stage one...........

I have the 12t sprocket and I can pull it up in 5th!

I would go stock bore, stage 2 cam, port and polish job on the head, rejet, k&n, and some form of free flowing exhaust.........
I am running a hollowed out stock exhaust and I smoke piped rappys and shees all day long..........

Which ever cam you use just puts the power in different parts of the power band. The real gain is the porting. Cam,HC piston 11.1 staying with pump gas and a good port job will give you huge gains even with a stock bore.
