Now don't get me wrong here, Elka makes a good set of shocks... BUT... they seem to have a problem with the shock bodys swelling after hard use. Consequently, they snug up to the preload adjustment nuts and then you can't adjust them.
There are no true "zero preload" shocks. They all have some preload otherwise the frame would be sitting on the ground. Self sagging is the correct term. They drop the ride height for better handling.
Axis has, in my opinion, some of the best shocks available. However, they do not offer a piggyback reservoir, only remote rezzies. Overall, this will be better because they hold more oil and keep it cooler throughout your race.
Do some calling around to these companies prior to making your final decision. It's a big investment in this kind of equipment. The right ones will last a long time and the wrong ones will just cost you extra money.

Thanks Ridley, im PMing you about the tires and Swingarm...
So basically, i shouldnt worry about what blackwidow is saying about the Elkas? Cuz from what i hear and have researched they are really great shocks, thats why they are what i have been planning on... but i just want to make sure the swelling blackwidow mentioned wasnt a real problem. Any other experiences with Elkas anyone?...

Ridley,
Is there a difference between ride height adjustment and preload? I always thought that they were the same thing. You just turn the adjuster to put more tension in the spring (preload) and that consequently raises the ride height. Am I missing something? Thanks for all the info.
