Default FCRs or carrillo rod & 02 trans update?

I think the title says it all, I have a 12:1 686 and I'm wondering if I should update my trans and install a carrillo rod or go with a set of FCRs and just chance it? I've never had a lick of trans trouble as I usually ensure I'm fully locked up into 2nd before launches. I've also read of some people having really expensive rod failures. I figure I've been quoted $220 for the Rod, $80 to install on my good crank. $375 for the trans parts and a couple hundred bucks to put it all together with me doing the top end work. Pretty much the same cost as the cheaper FCR's I've seen. Which way to go?????? Cant really afford both and I have had no signs of failure of my stock 01 parts but I'd really be peeved if it all blows up on me!!

I would go with the tranny first and foremost!!! After that I think its just dumb luck whatever breaks.

I was like you, NO tranny problems AT ALL. The all of the sudden BAAAAM locked up.
