Technically it isn't infinite mass... but the mass is so great, and the force of gravity so strong, that not even light can escape. Astronomers say they understand very little about the universe and the laws that govern it. I would have to disagree-- I think that they know less. Every year a new theory disproves or modifies an existing one, and then all the rules change and blah blah blah.
