So what is better, retarding the cam timing one tooth or buying a new yz cam and installing it. Money aside which will give you more power and will the yz hurt your torque.

I would think the cam would do more for the engine or you could wait a little while and see what kind of cams come out for it. I'm sure it wont take long for aftermarket parts to start showing up. Slim

The cams are all the same (lift and duration). The only difference is the decompression pin location. WR won't start if you change the timing, but the YFZ battery is larger and spins the motor faster, so it works fine. You may not want to make the adjustment until you get a pipe, changing the cam timing takes from the bottom and adds to the mid/top. with a pipe there is so much increase in the bottom that it compesates for it.

I am going to wait until I get my pipe. I am going to put a 13:1 piston in it also.

It will be a screamer, the one we dynoed with the full GYT-R system, jet kit, A/F, 13:1 and Cam mod was 52hp on our dyno.

I believe that, because a stock YZ 450F puts out about 49 hp. This is an awesome motor to put in a quad!
