to bad that ford doesn't have the straight six still. my dad had a 91 F-150 with the 4.9 liter straight six that he put 230,000 miles on and the only things that he replaced was the clutch and the a/c.

i will second the notion about those ford 300's, you could beat them to death and they would come back asking for more...they used to be used in the old concrete trucks spinning the barrels widde open lol.....and ill also second the notion about the new 6L powerstrokes....they are awesome pullers...can almost spin tire in the 1 ton dump i drive.....even though im a gm guy at heart...

Well, I like all trucks as long as they are full size fords. right now I have a 74 f100 with a 351 windsor, a 79 F150 w/302, a 72 Ford F350 wrecker with a 390, a 79 F350 car hauler with a 400m. But in my opinion the best powerplant is the FE engine with my personal favorite in that family being the 390. My bud has a 76 f150 with a 390 and a 3speed with overdrive straight shift trans and gets about 20 mpg. I have put my wrecker in granny low and idled up steep gravel hills pulling cars. You can hear it counting it off, thier torque is awesome. And thier twin I beam suspension is indestructable. Nuff said hehe.

97 F150 4wd shortbox, extended cab, loaded.

Ever since I paid it off I've been considering a 5" lift and 35" tires for it.
