I will vouch, Bob Craycraft is a great guy. If I had any money I would go out of my way to work with him.

I found a nice exhaust shootout between most of the big guys in the exhaust industry. They where tested on the same stocks raptor with the same conditions. CT Racing 49.1 HP, Second Yoshi Pipe with 46.4 HP. The sparks most peopel rave about on this forum got 44.4 HP. Some other makes got close to the Yoshi HP figures, but thier power delivery was not smooth. Meaning power was spiky at some RPM's.

Yes, go with sparks. The more the merrier. It makes it easier for us MBRP/Yoshi/ CT/ Graydon guys to beat you at the strip.

Does any one have the Alba pipe kit? I saw that the pipe, jets and, proflow setup is about the same price as other (just ) pipe systems. Any reason why the other Companies are so much more?

What about HMF, their pipe seems cool for the price and, I can get the spark arrestor w/ it for less that other silencers.

What gives? Are these the K-Mart equivalent of pipes or, are they just as good for a good price?

CAPBAGS- Alba is a good pipe at a good price, HMF in my opinion is a good pipe at a good price. The rest of the pipe builders just need a little more money per pipe than the rest. I used to think parts for the vette were high. ATV prices are 10 times worse. If you want it you got to pay premium for it. The volume is so low on quad stuff they have to charge more for it if they want to eat

BigScary.

Since you seem to indicate the Dirtwheels test are wrong, what proof have you got that your Sparks system is the best. O. I know, it’s the best since you have it on your bike. Just for interest sake, lets forget the tests dirtwheels have done on the pipes. Go to CT Racing’s web site and amazingly they also found the pipe to deliver 49 HP. Then go to yoshi’s web site. And AMAZING yet again they also found 46 HP. Both the suppliers and Dirtwheel agree about the end results.

What does sparks web site say they got out of the raptor? I find it strange that they don't post their dyno results. The only dyno graph I could find was in dirtwheels. The pipe is not bad but it produces the 7th highest HP output. Where they go wrong is their airbox mod and jetting recomendations.

I am not a fan of running the airbox without a lid. But the open box gives you the best power. There are some mods one can do to make the airbox flow much better with the lid in place.

1st, cut out the restrictions in the rubber snorkel. But don’t remove it.
2nd Where the air enters the airbox (oval “pipes” in the lid) you will see the pipes reduce in size from the front of the lid to the end of the pipes. So, cut the sides out of the “pipes”. Not the whole pipe, leave the centre support bit and some plastic on the bottom of the pipe. This will increase the amount of air that can flow true the openings, plus when water enters the airbox it will run along the pipe and most of it will drop behind the filter, preventing water entering the air intake. Don't cut the whole pipe out as it will not increase the amount of air intake. The sides ONLY.This alone helps the raptor breath better. When you rev it, you can actually hear the differance it makes. The motor sounds better plus it delivers more power.
3rd. Install an aftermarket airfilter.
4th. If you need more airflow, then start cutting some nice holes at the back of the airbox lid. As far away from the filter as possible. Again to help prevent water entering the air intake.

You might have to jet the raptor to get the best results.

Well I will put my 2 cents in this subject and in no way do i mean to offend anyone. I have a Sparks pipe and love the performance in all areas. Have tested it against some other pipes mentioned and it outperformed them. Dyno numbers vary from pipe to pipe and a lot of this variation comes from proper setup not just putting a pipe on. I cant say wether the DW shootout was right or wrong and it really doesnt bother me either way, I run on the track and not dynos and from what I have seen the Sparks pipe gets the job done. I'm not saying that there isnt a better pipe but I have not had another pipe show the Sparks up. I have plans on getting and trying another pipe with HIGH HOPES of it showing the Sparks pipe up and if it does I will be the first to return to this post and say it outperfromed the Sparks pipe. I'm not about names in the buisness i'm interested in the best performing products and always on the lookout to try different setups. Good luck on your choice of pipe and i'm not reccomending the Sparks to you but sharing my information of my experiences. I hope which ever pipe you choose you are satisfied with it. Later Slim
