quad for dirtbike?

Dude bikes are a lot of fun. I would get the either yz or cr. Both are incredible bikes. For you since you have not much expierence on a bike I would suggest a yz250f. A 450F is probably too much power for your skill level and you might crash hard and get discouraged. The 250f still rips and is an awesome bike. Once you ride/race/practice on an mx track with a bike you'll be hooked.

I was looking through an auto trader magazine today, and found a 2003 cr250 with quite a few mods on it for $1800. I don't really know what to think, except that its a scam. The seller is in London, UK, so could that be why its so cheap?? I've seen very similiar bikes going for 5k. How much would it be to ship it and how long would it take??

It seems that nobody has mentionned the KX125 and KX250... These bikes are top-notch.. I'm not real big into dirtbikes...but I think a KX is faster than a YZ of the same size... A KX500 is just retarded...
I don't see how you guys forgot about Kawasuki

Not with a 10 ft pole my friend.
Here are a couple of options:
2002 CR 250 $3,500
2003 CR 250 $3,250
2002 CRF 450 $3,800
2002 CRF 450 $3,600
Then of course you could always buy a real bike...my '02 YZ 250 here

Thanks for the help motoxpress.
I asked this before but nobody really answered, is a 450 4-stroke or 250 2-stroke better for mx and trail riding?? After I decide between those, I will decide between honda and yamaha.
BTW, in the third link posted above, it sounds like the guy is selling his wife because she just had a baby. lol

Either one will do great. Something to keep in mind with bikes is that they are more purpose specific than quads tend to be. Your suspension setup, your gearing, even the flywheel in your motor are all optimized for either trail or track. You can do both but, it will do one better than the other. My YZ is setup for track but, I have taken it on some knarly TST (Tight Single Track) trails and it was obvious that it was not setup for it (Although I still had fun).
If trail is a big emphasis for you, you could take a 4 stroke and dual sport it so that you sould actually drive it to the trail head. Dual sporting is a whole sport to itself.
BTW, Whole new possibilities will be opened up to you with trailriding being on a bike. You can go on trails that will take you places that a quad could never even consider.

-Off the showroom floor, the 450 4 strokes are faster than the 250 2 strokes
