No wonder these things are stolen so much. Keys are basically useless. They should design it more to be like a car (not a 5 or 10min job to hotwire) and when its in park it stays there. I can put my Yamaha auto in any gear without the key. Stupid!! Thank god for insurance or this thing would be chained to concret!!

I agree totally...there waay to easy to hotwire. My friend has a blaster and lost his keys, i had it going in 1 minute flat. I think they should just conceal the wires better in the frame or body, all you have to do is lift up and look at the underside of the ignition, and pull out wires and sometimes connect them

It is only easy to start a beartracker without he keys. I had to do it b4 with my beartracker. All u gotta do is to pull up on the case where the key goes and unplug the ignishion. Then use the pull coard to start her. But remember that u will have no lights.

On most of Yamaha products if the ignition cylinder is removed there will be a serial number stamped on it.
Take that number to a locksmith that has a Yamaha serial code chart and for $10, bingo bango, a new key can be made.
Many dealers do not have the capability to cut keys from this serial number because it is a costly system. Dealers can however usually cut a key if given the original key serial number that is stamped into the factory keys.

if u wants to start a beartracker without a kay or hotwire it all u gotta do is just unplug the ignition....about 6 inches down from the ignition there is a plug with 4 wires pluged into it....just pull that apart and then use the pull cord to start it and the kill switch to turn it off.....i had to do that with my beartracker whenever i wanted to use it and couldnt find the keys
