Default Warrior problem???

My buddy just bought a new airbox (stock) with the pro design intake already attached for his 2001 warrior, yesterday when we got all done installing it, the machine doesn’t run right. It will start and idle no problem, give it some gas and it sounds like it is bouncing off a rev limiter, or misfiring, and if you keep trying to give it gas it will back fire. I know some will be quick to say ground the reverse, we tried that with no success, does anybody know the secret to doing this successfully?
Is there a wire in that area that we might have pulled that could be doing this, we tried not to pull any but I know at least the negative to the battery got pulled along with some others that go to the back of the machine?
He also has a full pipe on it, with the pro design air filter, we didn’t have the jet kit in yet, is this just symptoms of the machine needing to be jetted? I wouldn’t think so because we stuck the stock filter and air box back in and the machine and it still did the same.
Any opinions or comments would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance to all who reply!

Does the machine smell like it's flooding? If not, it may be running lean. Try a clean plug in it and do the same as you were doing .. then check the plug to see if it's wet or dry. You probably do need a rejet, but I wouldn't have thought it would be as serious as what you're describing ..

No the machine wasn't flooding, I checked the plug and all was good there also. I tried covering up the filter almost completely with a plastic bag in an attempt to block some air, still nothing. This is why I am leaning more towards an electrical problem, there is a bunch of wires that run to the back(opposite exaust side) that might have been pulled on, but none were un plugged or damaged to the best of or knowledge. Thanks for the quick response if you have any other ideas I would appreciate it! I also sprayed some carb cleaner directly into the carb with the throttle wide open, dont think that should have done anything, but just thought I would let you guys know everything.

Did you ever solve your problem? I'm having exactly the same problem with a Wolverine. It happened all of a sudden.

Make sure its not the parking brake revlimiter. When i purchased mine the parking brake was stuck in the on position and i thought it was everything else. I took apart the carb twice because i hadn't read about the stupid parking brake revlimiter. I pushed it back in place and the thing was fine. 8 Hours of work could have been a second if only i knew.

Default Warrior problem???

Mine was cutting out bad at anything just above idle last weekend after some hard riding......I opened the carb drain for about 10 seconds, closed it, and all was well. Could just be a bit of water in the bowl or something obstructing it that will flush out when you drain some gas out of the bowl. Worth a try anyways. My air cleaner was fine and no water in the airbox when I checked it and the plug was sparking fine too.

Thanks,

I had the same thing happen to mine, grounding the parking break didn't work. It ended up being the jet, It fell out and was laying in the bowl. I guess when i re-jeted i didn't tighten it enough. Talk about felling like an a$$. It took days to figure that one out.
