Default Need help from all you guys with hopped up quads and grizzly's

I was wondering where you all get your performance parts, accessories, lowering kits, etc. I personally have a Yamaha Grizzly that I trail ride with ( On my own property mostly ) and also like to go mudding. The grizzly is pure stock and I would like to get a lift kit, bigger tires, and then some performance parts. What all should I do to the grizzly and where should I get the parts (Internet or store)? I live in Southwest Missouri and will travel quite a bit if needed, thanks.

You can not go wrong with...Rocky Mountain Atv. There are several more good places too buy....research the bad places here before getting into a mess. Welcome!

i get most everything through highlifter. great sight, good people, and reasonable prices, with the help to back them.
as for mods to the grizzly. first one, get good tires!!! i got titan 589 mt tires, 26 inch, mounted on itp alunimum rims, with a good offset. added 4 inchs to the width, and handles 10 times better. cost shipped and allready mounted to the rimes was 650.00
next, add a k&n filter, jet up to at least a 155 main, with the clip on the needle in the 4th groove,( thinking your at sea level) and buy an aftermarket exhaust( or at least do the muffler mod. )
i have added other things, that are good, but nothing does more for ya than this. also, do a side panel mod to it, it helps alot.
if done right, making sure you have done plug chops to it, you should be able to stand her streight up with no help from a few mile and hour roll. power out of the hole will be much better, and she will pull through thick mud alot better.
you might want to do a bypass of your rev limiter while your at it( allready done on 04 models)
good luck

to do a bypass of the rev limiter while in 4x4 locked diffs, it is simply 1 wire. remove your cdi box, and on the bottom of it is a white wire, with a blue tracer( check through highlifter, couse its been a while, and it might be a red tracer, or solid white) anyway, if you just cut the whire, your reverse light will flash, but it will be disconnected. i did it using a toggle switch, running it from 1 end of the wire, to the toggle, and back to the other end of the wire. when i want to go real deep, just hit the switch, and no rev limiter.
go to highlifter to double check the tracer on the white wire.
good luck

can you bypass the rev limiter on an 03 grizz. i put itp mudlites on mine 26x10-12 front and 26x12-12 rear and it improved ride, handling, and mudding but i lost about 8 mph on top end. but still a beast and blast to ride.

there is no way to remove the rev limiter for 2 wheel drive on the grizzly. i thought you were speaking of 4x4 limiters. on other 4x4 quads( prarie) shops have designed a new cdi box that allows higher rpm's witch in turn allows higher speed and better excelleration. this has not been offered on the grizzly YET!! i am stressing yet, becouse there are a few that are suppost to be working on this as we speak. it will be expensive, and require buying a new cdi box. prices i have heard are as low as $175.00 and as high as $300.00
keep your fingers crossed, lol

I also put the 26" mud lites on my 03 grizzly. The speedo read about 7-8 mph less, but when I ran it alongside another stock tire grizzly my speedo was reading about 3 miles per hour slow due to the diameter difference in the tires. So you probably only lost about 4-5 mph. I plan on re-clutching mine and adding a pro design KN filter kit to get some of the speed and acceleration back. I have the diff lock and reverse limiter override instructions and pics on my photo page if interested.

I have 26" Mudlites on stock wheels. Going to buy some black ITP C-series next year.

I also plan on putting a pipe on it, either MBRP or HMF, then a K&N. No other real "performance" plans. Don't need a lift.

Great bike!

oh, to add, on top of ROcky Mountain there is www.4atvtires.com and www.denniskirk.com I have bought from all 3. IMO, the first 2 are the best, but DK has such a large selection!
