ATVs getting a bad rap!!!

I'm pi$$ed...pi$$ed with all the BS in the news about the government looking in to atv saftey...yeah right! This year there were a few more atv deaths than last year and its got their bloomers in a wad. All they ever say is the increase in fatal accidents... never any mention of there being more people riding atvs. Common sense will tell you if there are more people riding they will be more accidents. I would guarantee if you looked into these accidents further you would find inexperenced riders riding above their skill level. What is needed is training for the inexperenced riders, and people being responsible for thier own actions, treating atvs with respect. They are not toys or baby sitters. We don't need the government coming in with some bullsh1t law that will end up not helping anything and costing the responsible rider money or his riding freedoms.
Sorry guys I'm just venting some BS like this gets me hot!

AMEN!!!!! Alot of the trouble is uneducated unresponsible parents buying atvs there kids want and not the ones they should be riding. We were at a race a few weeks and a new parent was there arguing with the ladies at the sign ups about them not letting his 13 year old son ride his brand new 450f in the 4-stroke open class. There is an example of Spoiled $$$ kids getting in over their head by uneducated parents. Just a note to parents educate yourselfs your kids and allways have your kids riding at there ability and not over there heads. Just my 2 cents

I can't beleive no one jumped in to bitch about the system....I guess all they are worried about is going faster.... If we don't stand up for our rights the only place we will be able to go fast is in our front yards

Well If you Live in michigan, your freedom to ride ATV's is pretty much gone allready. In my county (Muskegon) which is the third largest county in the state there is a total of one, count em, one place to ride legally. It's a trail that is so tight that my raptor would scape its wheels on trees on both sides when it was the stock width.
The Reason the DNR gives for the No ATV's anywhere crap is erosion of earth. I was ticketed for riding on state land, Miles away from any houses or paved roads, in a gravel pit that everytime it rains is washed out anyway's.
So I can't Ride my Raptor in Michigan, but I can go and get a permit to carry a concealed weapon anytime I want.
But I'll take my tickets and just keep on ridin. To Hell With em!

Well, in a sense, they are toys, most people ride them and use them to have fun. They do need to be respected however. People shouldn't worry about ATV saftey as long as riders are away of the risks. The stickers they put on the plastics and all the stuff in the manuals, if people actually took the time to read them, I see no reason why there would be a problem with ATV safety. Its ATV abusing that is what is getting out of hand. When you have people doing large launches, and things of that nature, it is at there own risk. Lots of the fatal accidents do involve people doing stupid things that they shouldn't be doing. I see no reason why people should "crack down" on atv safety, when it is allready safe, when done right. If someone does get hurt and or die, I hate to say it, but they should be aware of the sports risks while they are doing it.
