blaster

I've got a 97 Blaster with a buttload of hours on it still running the stock piston. In fact it hasnt had a single part wear out other than brake pads and tires. Engine bolts/screws do tend to vibrate out but loctite them and you will have a very reliable long running machine. Just use quality injector oil and remember to run the carb dry when you put her up and everything will be peachy!

I suggest the blaster because it is quite a bit faster and the after-market is big for them. if you are 6'2 though you would be cramped on either of them. consider something a little bit bigger or at least be sure to sit on one before you buy one.

replacing the piston usually goes along with the norm. top end rebuild. this is about every 200 to 250hrs you have logged on the engine

At 6'2" I'd suggest skipping the little blaster. The 250EX is targeted to much smaller beginner riders. The Blaster is also a small machine. I very highly suggest you look at a nice used Warrior instead or even better a 400ex. I wouldnt buy any of these machines new though, there's better available for the money.

With the Blaster if you start modifying it you might as well do away with the oil pump and premix your fuel. Zero chance of failure. My relatively stock and reliable blaster still has the oil injection but I keep an eye on the light and everything works properly.
