blaster oil injection

I have a 98' blaster and the same thing happened to me. I ran mine so long and i didn't know it stopped, i craked my piston and i took it to my mechanic and he shut my oil injection off . so now i pre fix my oil and gas and it work's good ..
aint had no promblems yet ..

98'blaster 190' Doulgas rim's on blackwaters
wiesco piston , DG grab bar , fmf pipes ,pj/34mm carburetor,uni air filter , jet kit ,fmf reeds

Do whatever you want, but taking off an injector is pointless. It just doesn't brake. If it did break, it is probably because of operator error. Did you make sure not to get dirt into the oil injection tank? Did you use a clean funnel? Probably, at some point you didn't. And just because your Blaster siezed, it doesn't mean the oil injection is at fault. Other thinks CAN break. Can anyone here explain how that Blaster finished the Paris-Dakar with oil injection? Can anyone explain how my oil injector on my Blaster has survived well over 5000 miles of riding?

I'm curious how often this problems occurs in regards to climates. Ie: Colder climates vs Hotter ones.

Hey blastermaster:
What issue had the article on removing the blaster's oil injection? Has anyone tried this technique of just removing the plastic gear? My friends oil injection just went on his blaster.

I got my block off kit from Trinity for $12. It was easy to do and I took off the whole think. Saved a couple of pounds and the risk of not having any oil mixed in. It is a toss up though. They don't always go badf and sometimes they are very confinent when you pull up to a gas pump and don't have to mix. lol.

I have a 2000 and I always run premix. I did not remove the pump, gear or hose to the carb. I removed the tank and hose to the pump. Then i filled the hole where the tank hose was with black silicone. I never even started mine with the injector system on. I brought it right home from the dealer and did this. I think that the injection system is the worst thing Yamaha ever designed. The blasters system is different from every other system that they use. All the others seem to work, but the blaster's sometimes does and sometimes does not.

I don't know....all the blasters I have worked on, and I have not seen one failure due to the injector.
It never hurts to mix your own fuel... But the injector unit is very well made.
The blaster is a small, high revving, air cooled 2stroke.... It gets hot. Melting a piston does happen. Most of the melted pistons I have seen are from people trying to do their own jetting.
A casual blaster rider may never see a problem. Somebody who is ripping around at full throttle all the time has to expect to put a piston in once in a while. Thats the nature of this game.
If you suspect the injector is bad...get a manual or bring it to a shop. I'm not saying that they don't go bad...but I feel it very rare.
The injector blockoff is very cheap and easy to install if thats the route you want to take.
Most of the people that ask me to work on a blaster, bring me basket cases. Out of all the machines I see. The blaster always seems to be the bike that is the least taken care of. People ride them very hard...
I have this guy that sees me on a regular basis...He toasts more pistons in 2 years than I have in my whole life. He is riding a blaster and weighs well over 200 lbs. Go figure.

It does look like it leaned out, If the oil pump works then you may have an air leak, getting to much air.

The blaster oil injection system acutally is very good, people give it a bad rap but thats cuz they do not know what they are talking about.. I have never seen one fail, never heard of one failing either (besides somebody's friend who's friend's friend happened to them) I had an 89 that was stock bore, still hitched up and the piston looked great, never had a problem with it. You are 99.99% more likley to blow your blaster up from mixing the gas wrong then having the oil injection fail. The only reason I would remove it would be for racing.
