Default Changing sprockets on Raptor

I would like to change the gearing while I'm at it. Any suggestions of what would be best? What size chain to buy as well w/ new sprockets.

First things first, I want to go fast. As far as mods go, full exhaust, k@n air filter, jets. I ride mostly mx style, A lot of jumping and hauling. I really don't know what a difference gearing will make that's why I'm asking you guys. Thanks for the prompt response.

If you ride MX style and want to have great acceleration and lower end then run a 12 on the front, and your stock 40 on the back.

that will give you a 12/40 gearing that will give you alot of low end. you'll lose some speed on top end, but you'll have lot's of low end and that will help you in mx style races or riding.

if you want alittle more speed instead of low end then put a 14 on the front, and that will give you more top end speed.

Any tips on which brand to buy. I do know not to buy aluminum and spend the money on stainless. Isn't 12/40 the stock gearing? If it isn't what size chain do I need.

13/40 is stock gearing.

And if you go down to a 12/40 gearing then you should just get the standard chain and you can knock a couple links out when you put it together with the master link.

I got the stock chain with a 12 tooth countershaft sprocket, no need to knock and links out unless it stretched beyond belief! Just readjust your rear carrier/ chain backlash, you'll have enough adjustments, I'm putting on a 14 tooth for winter riding here soon, see how much on the GPS that'll give me... I need high speed river riding in winter, and I'm never in a gear below 2nd anyhow, it'll make me use more of my gearing... 12 tooth was perfect for summer, mad torque with the 40 tooth rear sprocket, not bad top end, 75MPH dead on the GPS give or take 1MPH on a flat smooth gravel road tapped out for 20-30 secs... Was dead on with a Pred with pipe and filter...

How you supposed to pick up a sled when you live that far away? I'm not really into shipping it, have no way to go about it and all and it seems risky.... It's in awesome shape, 1.25" rear track, sonic blue X package snowchecked, rear Fox clicker shock, 2150 miles, rebuilt under warrenty due to faulty oil pump at 1500miles(air bubble in line), lots of changed out parts(color matching), bar ends, windshield bag, two windshiels, stock and low blue....
