Anybody have one and if so what is it like. Just looking at getting a few more revs out of the yfz. The yz dirtbike (with a lnger stroke) has a higher rev limiter. Doesn't make sence not to get more revs out of a shorter stroked machine, which should have had more revs to begin with. GYTR supposively has one? Vortex has one. I think big gun, or something like that, has one too.

I was reading your profile. What skidplates did you decide to get for the YFZ?
Rocky Mountain ATV has a few companies listed for skidplates for YFZ.

I would think he has gyt-r skids

But I think about all the cdi's do about the samething. The alba cdi was another product I was looking at getting whenever I purchase the yfz.

ridnwarrior: I got the GYT-R skidplates. The consist of the front a-arm plates, the engine/body skid plate, and the swingarm skidplate.
I would not recomend going with the gytr swingarm skidplate(s) however. They are a trick little two piece unit, and very very sturdy, with a lot of time spent on the welds. HOWEVER, being that they are so strong, the minute you tag a rock or any other debree, and not very hard at all, it shears the bolts for the skidplate right off. I have gone threw 3 sets, at $150 a crack, always losing the sprocket side plate, but having to by both again, as they come in pairs. I know that others have had the same problem. I was going to use stronger grade bolts, but I guess someone did that, and it broke the tabs off the swingarm, then your really screwed!!
I am now running the stock plastic ones. I have put many many hours on them, and they are holding up just fine. They soke up any energy from a hit, and then just bend right back out on there own. I figure if I lose a plastic guard (which hasnt happened yet), its only a few bucks to replace it, as oppose to the $150 price tag on the aluminum gytr skidplates.
But the other plates are awesome, and I highly incourage you to go with them.
As for the cdi, I think I may try it.

My frame skidplate on my Warrior has recessed bolts on it. You should see if you can find some tapered bolts either where you live or online the correct size and then using a drill bit, taper the holes in the skidplate just enough to let the tapered bolt heads fit so they are flush with the surface of the skidplate.

When you did the air cleaner and the pipe did you like the hp gains you received. Are you satisfied with the exhaust you got?

OH, DID I EVER. That machine was totally different after those two things, it cam alive, and was nothing short of spectacular. The prodesign billet plate offers a much larger gulp of air threw its much bigger diameter intake hole. The k&n is wrapped in a outerwears prefilter, and the box is covered with another outerwears box lid. Between the two outerwears and the k&n, hopefully nothing will get by, thus far nothing has. But its also winter, and there is no dust! If it becomes a problem, then I will probably switch to the foam prodesign filter.
But as far as performance gains, between those (the air intake, and exhaust), made a huge difference, and the titanium exhaust not only looks trick, but sounds good, and weighs almost nothing!
The other thing that made quit a difference was the cam mod, or yz cam. Gave me more power in the mid and upper range of the rpm's.
The problem that I am having right now is with HARD cold starts with the yz cam. Everyting was fine, till I had that installed. Everything is in correct, its been double and triple checked. We put the stock cam back in, and the bike starts just fine! Now, when you did get the thing started with the yzcam in it, WOW, what an awesome running machine, it was even better!
Right now, I'm having the stock cam retarded one tooth (also known as the "cam-mod") and we'll see where that gets me. The bike, with the yf cam in it, only had 20lbs of compression. When we put the stocker back in we had 120. That was my problem I think. Once you got it started it ran great. Hot started no prob, but it never started cold. It took a long time!
Im keeping my fingers crossed that I can run the cam mod fine on my quad. I really think that maybe the yz450 cam that I bought is bad. Others have installed the yz cam and had no problem what so ever. Its getting pretty expensive though swapping cams out all the time. I would do it, but I am gone and deployed to the desert with the usaf.
Hope my quad gets figured out by the time I get home!!!
