Default Pull Starting A Grizzly

I tried and my friend tried. Is there a trick to pull starting this beast? I can't hold on to the Handle.. ( only 25 miles on it)

Thank You,
Rick-Wi

The Grizz nor the Kodiak has a decompression chamber so I know thats why they pull so hard. My Kawie has a decompression lever on top of the head so It pulls easy. I have know Idear why Yamaha didn't do the same!????

I pull started mine just to see if I could do it. No trick, just pull on it.

Try to pull it over slow just past the compression stroke. Let the rope in and pull it over fast it should start. My old warrior with 11 to 1 compression if you just pulled it would rip the handle out of your hand.

Yep, thats how its done. You got to get just past the compression stroke, reel it in,and then pull, that way the flywheel helps you get past the next compression stroke.

BTW, the '03 Grizzly does not have a decompression lever. At least mine doesn't and my Shop Manual does not depict anything ressembling a decompression lever.
