need help with carb... PLEASE
#1
i have a '95 wolverine and i am trying to jet it. i just have a few questions......what does the main jet control? What does the needle do and how does it effect the machine by moving the clip up and down? Finally, what does the pilot jet do? does it only control idle or is it idle to 1/4 throttle? Also i was wondering if anyone elses wolvy accelerates well when you give it throttle steadily but if you hammer it, it almost dies. If i change the pilot to a larger size will it help with this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it bogs when you hit the throttle first move the needle one clip up (leaner). If that makes a difference try moving it another clip. If needle alone doesnt fix it you will need to go down on the main jet.

The 95 wolvy has an accelerator pump which works off a little plunger under the left side carb cover plate. If you haven't changed anything else (pipe etc), then this is probably where your problem is.

Moving the needle or rejetting will not affect off-idle throttle response, until 1/4 throttle, you are on the pilot/idle circuit, and also needing a shot from the accelerator pump. The main problem with the Warrior/ 95 Wolverine carb is the extremely weak spring on the accel pump plunger, the best fix is to take the spring from a click type ink pen, it is the same size, and much stronger, also make sure the plunger is not sticking in the passage, if you have no shot of gas from the pump when you hit the throttle, the engine sucks a bunch of air, and very little gas, hench the bog or almost dying off idle. You may also need to bend the little metal arm that moves under the plastic arch that operates the accel pump plunger, the gap is pretty big, you may find getting it to add gas a little sooner will help. The 96 and up Wolverine got a new CV type carb that has good throttle response, but the flat slide in the 95 will actually get more top end and a little more power, when set up correctlly.
