Warn 424 Problems
Man, this is killing me. Install was a snap, I'm pretty sure I did everything correctly. When finishing up I pulled the handle and it did lock, but now no such luck.
I even adjusted the cable as the instructions say as far as I could go and this thing won't lock.
I jacked up the quad and hit the gas, with the **** in it's in 4WD, and when I pull the **** I can see the front tires stop spinning, so I thing it has to be the cable.
Anyone help?
It's a 2004 Wolverine.
Thanks.

I had the same problem with mine. it seems, that when I was assembling the ****, I kept twisting the **** trying to get it together. I twisted it alot. It wouldn't lock in 2WD. When I twisted it the the **** the opposit direction ( a lot of turns) then it would lock. I must have kinked the cable or something. Did you find yoursef twisting the black **** alot, while assembling the handle? If so, try twisting the black **** the opposit way ( as many times as you twisted it the other way) I hope you understand what I'm saying. Another thing, I find on my Wolverine that to get it in 2WD I have to hold back on the black ****, (while in gear) blip the throttle then let off, then it locks in 2WD. Hope this helps>

You know I think I might have, I don't know which was I was twisting but that though struck my mind, esp. since it worked in the first place. I'll try it.
Thanks.
PS. I also thought that the angle of the cable coming out of the grommet was too sharp so I re-ran the cable up from the front. Doesn't look too bad on the black wolvy.

Yeah, thanks a ton. I spun the other way quite a bit, btu I also think that the worm gear on the red button was catching one of the sides of the groove.
It takes a little art to get the thing to lock, but I can get it everytime I try by pulling the **** out and playing with the button.
Works for me.
Thanks again.

Warn 424 Problems
Just wanted to update this post. I thought it might help out others.
I had the same problems with my 424. I sprayed a ton of WD40 into the edge of the button and where the shaft goes down into the black knurled ****. I just kept spraying and working it down into both spots. My 424 works better and pulls easier then when it was new! I don't even have to pop the gas while pulling on it to get it into 2wd. She's as smooth as a babies bottom.

I did the same thing and let the WD run down the cable. Worked like a champ.
