Scottyjay: that was the stupidest question i've ever read. you must smoke crack. lol J/K

anyways: a couple of my buddies own V-Forces (<-Better name IMO) and they're not gonna like this...but the Raptor is a faster. the v-force has a lot of advantages with the automatic tranny but in the end i think it makes the machine slower and robs you of on demand power selection. the added weight isn't helping matters. but they are competitive...no question. they win GNCCs.

Anything automatic will beat any manual off the line for a quick instant...but the raptor is alot faster...but I'll agree, the VForce puts up a good fight...

And I have seen people jump the V, and they seem like they do VERY well at jumping for how heavy then are...there is a guy in the April 2004 with a Vforce (It's the one for Ice, Pavement Drag, and MX) and it seems like he gets major air...and all my buddies that have or know people that have them say they do very good for being heavy and automatic....

I own both, so I am completely unbiased (well almost).

My V Force is slightly modified (pipes and jetted) and my wife's Raptor is bone stock.

The V Force easily gets the holeshot, but by 4th gear the Raptor slowly passes the Big Kawasaki.

I enjoy riding them both, but if I had to choose one over the other, I would stick with my V Force. The V Force has more torque, a more comfortable riding position, more plush suspension, better sound, better ground clearance, easier to ride but still fun to ride hard, jumps nearly as good (not quite but close considering the weight difference), is almost as fast, looks unique, is shaft driven (no chain maintenance) and is in my opinion built better. I do not like the "quality" of Yamaha products. I feel that they are very cheesy compared to the Hondas, Kawasakis and Suzukis. Before any haters try to discredit me, I own two Yamahas, so I am not just throwing stones with no basis. My Kawi has been rolled down a 60 foot hill in a GNCC and never bent the frame.

The Raptor is not as easy to work on either. Just changing the oil is a pain due to the poorly placed "oil tank". It is made such that you cannot get a container big enough to hold all the oil in the space available. Pisspoor engineering in my opinion (and I am an Engineer).

The Kawasaki my not win a drag race, but overall is a better quad. And don't think that an automatic is not fun. Just ride one and see how easy the thing is to wheelie. I can out wheelie any Raptor.

THey are both great quads and I am very happy to be able to throw a leg over whichever one strikes my fancy. Now I just need Kawasaki or Suzuki to come out with thier 450 MXer to add to the stable.
