Default Raptor float level

I've been wrenching on my 01 660 Raptor ever since installing full FMF exhaust. 150,155 mains, middle clip on the needle,3 turns out,or so,on the air screws, and ive trimmed the fins out of the snorkle on the air box lid.The float level is 1/8th,to 1/4 inch above the mating surface of the bowl and carb body.Too high????? I'm about to pull my hair out.Idle and top end is great,,once it gets over coughing and hesitating mid range. Helllllpppppp!!!!!!!!!! Seems like i wrench on it more than i ride it.

A 1/4 inch seems too high. The perfect height is 2mm above the surface, no higher. I think at 1/4 it would be running out of your overflow tubes on the carbs...or close to it. Just a tiny little bit or height differance will make a big change, but it should affect more than mid range.

I know that didn't help much but...

That did seem too high to me,,,,,just wanted to make sure before i pulled the carbs off again. By the way,,spraying W-D 40 on the boots make the carbs slide on way easy. Thanks,,,,

The WD-40 also makes them slide off easier too, which can be a bad thing. Try a little gas next time, it makes them go on quickly but evaporates quick so they won't pop off later unexpectedly.

Yea a 1/4" is too high, it'll usually stumble at lower RPMs when you get on it.

You might want to play with the intake a little. I have a friend that started having some of the same trouble once he cut the tabs out of his snorkle, because his mains weren't big enough. To test this just put a 1-inch piece of duct tape over the snorkle. Go for a ride. Note any changes. Tear the duct tape down to a 3/4-inch piece. Go for a ride. Repeat. When all was said and done he ended up riding all weekend with a 1/2-inch piece of duct-tape blocking his intake. It worked really well. He was using the same jetting as you 150, 155. you might want to try bigger jets.
